Ted Cruz previews new plan to repeal and replace Obamacare
Washington Examiner ^ | NOVEMBER 14, 2013 | CHARLIE SPIERING

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz previewed a new plan to repeal Obamacare and replace it with different health care reforms.

"The only way to stop the problems is to admit this idea was fundamentally flawed to begin with," Cruz told Fox News' Megyn Kelly. "At this point, starting over, stopping Obamacare, is the essence of pragmatism."

Cruz's approach differs from some congressional Republicans and Democrats who are working to pass a bill delaying the Obamacare individual mandate or help Americans keep their current health care plans.

Cruz said that he would release a bill to empower Americans to purchase health insurance across state lines, creating a "true national market." Insurance can only be purchased intra-state at present.

"In the coming weeks, I intend to layout a plan to provide exactly that, a plan to repeal Obamacare altogether and at the same time expand options for five million-plus people, who have lost their health insurance and 300 million people across this country to expand their options to have affordable, personal, portable health care," Cruz said.

While the House leadership foolishly tries to "fix" a failed socialist scheme... once again, Ted Cruz is miles ahead of the game.

Did anyone else catch Mary Landrieus’ statement yesterday: We're going to fix Obamacare...not gut it...not repeal it..not defend it...FIX IT.” Denial, denial, denial.

Yep, and Cruz needs to roll out his plan standing with the heads of major health insurance co’s like Blue Cross, etc and offer private plans IMMEDIATELY following the repeal of Obamacare. IT is GALLING that this congress has allowed this President to call the shots instead of calling him out and impeaching him for the blatant violation of his authority time and time again for the past 5 years. I am not hopeful that the REPUBLICAN PARTY can actually provide a comprehensive and savvy game plan to take hold of our country. SO many of THEM need the boot STARTING WITH the SENATE GOOD OL BOYS MOCONNELL AND MCCAIN...I’m flat out praying for strokes or old age to help exit them-God alone seems the only HIGHER POWER enough to clean the senate of the scum residing there!

This thing is moving fast.

With the Upton and Landrieu bills (both just doubling down on government meddling) already poised for a vote, Cruz and the conservatives better act more quickly than "in the coming weeks".

Go get'em Ted! Time to lift the skirts of both the commies and their supporters on our side of the fence!

Amazing how many masks have been lifted by this man.

One thing, among many, I respect and appreciate about Ted Cruz...

He relishes the fight, but does it in the high-road path of the gentleman he is. He never attacks his opponents personally.

You can’t fix a train wreck by just putting the cars back on damaged track. The track must be fixed FIRST.

This should be interesting.

Besides, Upton wouldn't likely do much positive with the ACA making the plans to be kept illegal and would not be able to restore the plans of those millions who have lost it - circle jerk either way and Cruz will start sounding good to even a lot of the low-info voters.

If/when Ted accomplishes this, there should be a NEW open enrollment for employees who find better insurance than their companies are being forced to offer since zerocare passed.

If he can devise a clear and understandable plan to undo the Obamacare mess, provide a reasonable alternative and find a way to insure the uninsured (without breaking the system), he has a huge leg up on any other potential nominee for 2016.

The RINOs and, even true conservatives, yell and scream, but have no plan. The guy with the plan will dominate. Of course, it takes courage; any plan will be met with specific challenges as to why it won’t work - he has one shot to get it right.

If anyone can do it, Cruz can.

Yeah, I agree. I think even if the "replace" portion of the bill isn't ready yet, the goal should be for a repeal vote very soon. Obamacare and the Senate Dems are imploding- strike while the iron is hot... and then hit them again soon with some "R n' R"...

Abolish, but DO NOT REPLACE Obamacare!

To replace, fix, or otherwise modify the Obama Socialized Health Insurance Tax, is to convince us Conservative voters that you sorry Senate Republican politicians have learned NOTHING from the disaster of the US Federal Government trying to Nationalize an industry.

The line in the sand has been drawn, Senators Cruz and Lee, step across it and you two will be just like all of the other sorry cave-in RINOs: nothing other than Democrat’s Republicans.

Allowing insurance to be sold across State lines and Tort reform will solve a vast majority of the healthcare problems in the US.

These reforms are not new. Conservatives have been advocating them for years, but the liberals have blocked all efforts.

Maybe the ObamaCare failure is the “perfect storm” needed to get these reforms pushed through into law.

Exactly. NO MANDATES, let the young ones buy bare-bones coverage for $49/mo, and tack it on their car insurance bills.

No, that's not what's going on here. I believe Cruz is alluding to replacing it with common-sense, free-market solutions. We've all been exposed to Obamacare now in all of its naked, ugly glory, and the public realizes that it's a socialist disaster. It's time to allow the free-market to rule.
