Yeah that struck me as odd too that she would talk about spitting in their food... this would have been after meal service was complete. So I looked closer at the two stories and I’m pretty sure I’ve figured out what happened.
Morales says she was initially offended when the family called her “Dan.” According to the wife the hostess that sat the family said their server would be “Dan,” when Morales showed up the wife jokingly said, “You’re not Dan.”
My guess is this is what set off Morales, she assumed the family was mocking her because of her appearance. That’s when she decided to act...
She prints out the standard merchant and customer receipts, she then reprints the merchant ticket. She presents the ticket to the family and they leave her the $18.00. She then turns in the correct ticket with the tip after the transaction has been initially run, and says nothing.
She then takes the copy scrawls the signature and the message, then runs out to her coworkers claiming she has been stiffed because she’s gay. After taking a picture of the receipt she then turns in the dummy receipt to the manager. Later that evening when credit transactions are processed, no one picks up the duplicate charges at the restaurant and runs the two transactions. On VISA’s end they simply see a duplicate transaction, drop the lesser amount and process the ticket with the tip.
She then goes public with the story... and this is the key. By keeping the people’s names private she ensures there will likely be no follow up. Seriously, most people who went to the restaurant that evening and saw the story on TV are not going to cross check the story with their receipt. So it’s really a no lose for her. She gets some notoriety, the restaurant will certainly get more business and her tips will likely increase. In fact they increase so much she even goes so far as to donate some of that money to Wounded Warriors.
The problem she ran into is she ran into a family who, like me, would have naturally been suspicious of the story and just double check the customer copy of the receipt to make sure she wasn’t perpetrating a fraud at my expense.
It’s pretty clear the manager knows the gig is up, especially when he was confronted with a copy of the VISA statement... he vacillates and then later that day orders an “internal investigation.” Morales’ response to the reporter is also pretty telling, she denies any wrongdoing, but later agrees when asked if the family should feel upset.
Also an indication that this female homosexual is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, so to speak.
If you take the time to do so (you have to watch a commercial with no skip-in allowed) you will see the female homosexual server confronted by the news reporter about the family's denial, and the evidence they offered to support their side of the story.
The server at first doesn't know quite what to say. She hesitates for a second or so, and then says "it's not my handwriting."
Why would she say that? The reporter never accused her of having written anything anywhere."
I had the same experience at the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta. The service was fabulous, and the tip was generous.
My Mormon coworker couldn't wait to get out of the place, though. I'm not sure he'd ever seen a pre-op tranny.
I suppose it could be a bit off-putting, at that. At least a he got a good meal out of the experience.
Same tactic was tried here in Texas awhile back, but it was “n.....r”. It was a hoax. The waitress did it herself. The target was a black minister’s wife, I believe.
A male-to-female pre-op tranny still has stick shift. :=)
I'm leaning toward the theory that they do it to control and manipulate others. Say they garner sympathy for some actual trauma, or praise for a real accomplishment. What is that to them, but mere cause and effect for the sake of circumstance.
Now if they invent a tale of woe, or tell a lie of performing a good deed, or about something they witnessed, then they are manufacturing a result - controlling others' emotional reactions through lying.
Knew a lady whose game only made sense in this context. She would come up with the strangest stuff that she saw other people supposedly doing. Normal gossip and drama wasn't enough for her I suppose. Hard to know for certain when she was lying about any given thing, but it only took one casual admittance of fakery to know that no words of hers could be trusted.
Yeah I saw that too, she went to immediate defense mode. Wouldn’t surprise me if one of her coworker friends actually wrote the note for her. She also was asked for an opinion about the family’s reaction and she says something to the effect that “I’m sure they are pretty pissed.” Again why would you say something like that. Doesn’t sound good.
The server has probably slathered herself in tattoos, nose and other rings and bizarre hair and subsequently “bears the cross” of everyone not only assuming they are a whacko lesbian but actually giving a crap about it and deigning it a good idea to do something as stupid as alleged, in the instant information age...
Alec Baldwin holds grudges....the gay loving media may well rue the day!
When I heard the lead in to this story I IMMEDIATELY thought fake, fake, fake. I said to my wife: I’ll bet the gay woman makes a good bunch of cash off this, maybe even a speaking tour like Sandra Fluke.
Sounds like she just wants to meet Ellen.
Yes, I presume he did.
Very convincing, though, we didn’t realize our “waitress” was a dude until he spoke.
If you’re gay, or a member of an approved minority group, or sometimes even female, you’re supposed to be part of the heroic, oppressed victim class. But you’re having trouble in actually being overtly discriminated against these days. Heck, you don’t even overhear disparaging comments.
So you gotta make stuff up. Just spray a swastika and it leads the news! Or beat up white people and then retaliation or self-defense becomes racism.
The few the proud......
“Did gay NJ server concoct denied tip story?”
“I’ll take SURE THING for $200 Alex.”
“Theyre not seeking acceptance anymore.
Theyre seeking supremacy.”
An excellent observation.
Since I wouldn’t have enjoyed the meal, I would have left that particular restaurant, even if I had to eat at a fast food joint. There’s nothing I detest more than some teeny-bopper flaunting their unconventional lifestyle with a face full of metal. I’d rather not get served by someone trying to contract a fatal disease.
