You then tell me that Yeshua didn't really mean the we must obey, but his words speak to the contrary.
Matthew 7:
[21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
[22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
[24] Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
He wouldn't say "he that doeth" if we couldn't do it.
You have a false gospel that stretches grace into a get-out-of-hell-free card. You have the same gospel as the homosexuals that say "I can't be straight, he made me this way so he has to love me this way"
No, he doesn't, and we need not rely on our own strength, but on his strength.
>> “You distort the scriptures to your destruction... just as the bible says.” <<
.
Show me the scripture that I have distorted.
How can a scripture be distorted by posting it?
You purport that it has a meaning that it does not have. You post scripture that does not support what you assert.
Jesus says we must LEARN to obey. And we do. He guarantees that when salvation is extended and accepted, it never is in vain.
He does not say we have to meet some arbitrary criterion of perfectionism along the way, which you are trying to hold Crouch to.
His Blood is a get out of hell at His expense card, by the way.
You are brittle (at best). And again you ignore the epistles that furnish vital context for the New Covenant in His blood.
How’s your love life?
1 Corinthians 13
New International Version (NIV)
13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Salvation is by grace and grace alone. Christians obey out of love, not to cooperate in your salvation. Your filthy good works cannot add to Christ’s finished work. He paid the full price. He either secured your salvation at Calvary or you are forever lost.
How true... works are the way we ANSWER the grace. We always will do works of some kind. What spirit they are based in, is the question before us. God furnishes us a new spirit to do them in, a spirit which will push away the old, satanic spirit in which we had been doing them.
Those who believe in a niggardly God will themselves be niggardly. That’s why I asked ES how his love life is and showed the scripture (hey, I can show scripture too). The 1st and 2nd commandments were given for a reason. Of course we are going to fail to keep them. God is waiting for us to see that we will fail!
Then the mercy, grace, and cleansing can kick in, and we are now on the road to heaven.
Now a caution: we must always respect God’s work. Even in runtly believers who are snagged for a while in philosophies like E-S’s (and I’ve not come across a more idiosyncratic form of “Christianity” in a long while). God orchestrates even these fumblings into lessons that will be eventually learned. As Paul said, some are delivered over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme. If E-S started out as a believer, by the time he gets out of his philosophical morass he is going to be good and tired of it, because it is blowing back upon him at every turn. “As we give, so shall we receive.”
And it’s really weird, the Christians (?) who will parrot in a heartbeat that they are “doing things in His power” and yet don’t look anything like it.
Most people take their theology from key verses that fit their tradition or preconceived notions. And that’s an easy thing to do. I’ve been there.
The untold millions who put their focus on obedience and works can easily find verses that seem to support the idea that our efforts, our decisions, our will, is somehow involved in salvation, that we add to grace or cooperate with grace. They fail to remember that when you add to grace, grace is no more grace. (”And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.” Romans 11:6) When you attempt to add to grace you are trusting to some extent in your sinful, filthy works for salvation. When people work they expect to be paid. Scripture teaches the wages of sin is death. Give me grace!
What most miss is what the Bible also says about our works. Scripture likens our best works, our righteousness, to filthy rags. They miss the fact that Scripture tells us repeatedly we are born again not by the will of man but by God. They miss the fact that we are dead in sin, that sinners never seek after God, that sinners can’t seek Him or savingly believe. They miss that they can’t savingly believe unless and until The Lord works a miracle in their heart. They can’t savingly believe until he removes their heart of stone and gives them a heart of flesh. In the early verses of John 3 The Master Himself said that we cannot even see the kingdom of heaven unless we have been born again. Absent the new birth we can’t even understand the real truth. We can be religious, but we can’t be Christians!
If most understood what really happened in the Garden of Eden they wouldn’t believe as they do. When you understand what Scripture says about the holiness of God coupled with the state of fallen man you realize that, as Spurgeon said, salvation has to “all of grace.”
Yes, we are commanded to obey, but we can’t possibly do so because human nature was thoroughly ruined in the Garden. And the Bible says if we are under the law we must keep THE WHOLE LAW. If we offend the law at one point the Bible says we are guilty of breaking the whole law. But Christ did what we couldn’t possibly do. He was obedient unto death.
Once a man sees his inability and his utter ruin, he will soon come to understand his only choice, his only hope, is Christ. A sinner who comes empty-handed to the cross is finally on the road to salvation. He must save us or we will never be saved. This is something Augustus Toplady understood:
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy riven side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save from wrath and make me pure
Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.
Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.
While I draw this fleeting breath,
When my eyes shall close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on Thy judgement throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.
I purport that his words mean exactly what he says.
You purport that they do not.
NO, by his grace we can achieve salvation at the last trump, through faith, if we endure to the end.
That is what Yeshua’s words say; that is what Paul’s words say.
Nowhere does Yehova’s word say that salvation is by grace; salvation has always been through faith, since Adam sinned. The grace is what allows us to approach Yeshua.
I have to admit that your acrimonious, vituperative attacks are making the love wear a bit thin, yet I shall persevere until you Find Yeshua, or one of us dies in the process.
Christopher Hitchens on Paula Zahn (CNN) about Rev. Falwell's Death
“Nowhere does Yehovas word say that salvation is by grace; salvation has always been through faith, since Adam sinned. The grace is what allows us to approach Yeshua.”
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
—Ephesians 2:8-9
FOR BY GRACE ARE YE SAVED...
Faith is a gift, a matter of GRACE.
These will help you. I pray you will listen.

You spread the loose error of churchianity.
The Holy Spirit is working to expose those popular errors.
Easy believism is a disease, and it can be eternally fatal.
By grace are ye saved through FAITH.
Nobody is saved yet; salvation is at the last trump. Those that endure, the same shall be saved.
Easy believism is a disease.
I despise easy-believism. If you think that’s what I’m saying you are woefully wrong.
I guess Paul just doesn't know what he is talking about, huh?
