Clear Channel moving Rush Limbaugh from KFI to revamped KTLK

Rush Limbaugh's radio tirades will have a new home on Los Angeles airwaves next year.

KFI-AM (640) is losing the conservative host's three-hour show, long a fixture on the station, to KTLK-AM (1150), which owner Clear Channel is hoping to pump up as an outlet exclusively dedicated to right-leaning chatter.

The company, which also owns KFI, will use Limbaugh's audience to anchor the new lineup for KTLK, which is being dubbed "The Patriot" and will also feature national shows by Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.

Clear Channel is making similar changes in San Francisco, where Limbaugh will leave its KKSF-AM (910), and move to KNEW-AM (960), which is also retooling its lineup as a destination for conservative audiences. The changes are set to take effect for the first broadcast of 2014.

Bill Handel didn’t seem to like Rush and seemed to grit his teeth when he had to mention Rush’s name when he announced who was following him. I never heard him say anything nice about Rush. I will gladly be switching over to 1150.

so right
such good news
i listen to 1150 sometimes and honestly can never understand what they are talking about. They just use half (well maybe one-eighth )truths that are just bloody absurd.

Finding any info at all about lib talkers has become harder and harder on the web every year that goes by. Digging reveals Rhodes is on about 30 stations. Was announced in October that Premier radio was going to drop her at the end of this year. In an about face they said they were going to keep her show in mid November.

I see Miller on about 47 stations. Both hosts numbers include them losing the spots to Rush.

Does 1150 go all the way from San Diego to Vegas like 640? If not, it might be a good deal for the owners of Ktlk, but not for Rush IMO.

That 50,00 watts doesn't go far in the daytime. It only works at nite. You can't get rush in Phoenix on KFI at 9:00 am.

Handle is an idiot who loves to pre-empt rush with boring press conferences. Handle got his start as the lead in to rush. Lets see how his ratings go now.

John and Ken are great for exposing corrupt local government and the fed cabal....KFI 640 3pm to 7pm

Outside of J&K, after the new year there will nothing else left on KFI..That's it, zip.

Morning in the So. CA area, conservatives only have Doug McEntyre at 790 AM from about 6am 9am. He's really good and funny too.

Then those with brains should switch to KTLK 1150 AM at 9am.

Levin is also on Am 790 evenings about 5 or 6pm to 9pm...

Only brainless easily amused easily fooled jackballs listen to Carol or Handle on KFI. Go to McEntyre on 790 early am at 790.

In fact if it were not for McEntyre, there would be nothing left in the early mornings on S. CA radio.

So there ya have it.

Handel, I can take or leave, but I’m glad someone was able to spell his name, correctly ;)

I tried 1150 a couple of days ago but was confused because the program hosts were saying that all the good Christmas movies were progressive, and that there was one bad tea party Christmas movie involving a Michael Moore-like character. I thought it was supposed to be a conservative station.

KTLK AM1150 is also the home of the 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings (my fave)...I see my share of both conservative and leftist Kings fans on Twitter. KTLK also does the postgame Kings Talk radio show, usually a live remote from the JW Marriott (across the street from LA Live/STAPLES Center.

They’ve not switched over yet. I think it will start either January 2 or January 6.
