This website is dedicated to telling the totally true story of John Ziegler's experience at KFI in Los Angeles. John realizes that the creation of this website probably ends any chance that he will ever again hit the highest levels of talk radio and may very well end his talk radio career totally. But he is at peace with that potential consequence because he feels there are certain truths that are worth the risk to tell, especially when you are really the only person in the world in a position to do so. This website is devoted to one of...

Buzz Patterson coming up on the John Ziegler show. He carried the nuclear football for Bill Clinton. I've met Patterson and had him on my radio show before (when I used to have a radio show). He confirmed that Hillary did not want her underlings to look her in the eyes. He learned that at an orientation meeting in the White House. LISTEN ONLINE: KFI ONLINE

Inside the KFI-AM studio, the face of this Jesus looks nothing like familiar images of Christ. Bald and goateed sans moustache, he wears a hoop earring and bears the tattoos of a rebellious youth. The voice of KFI Jesus -- a strong, smooth bass -- belongs to Neil Saavedra, who does not believe he is the Messiah yet assumes the godly persona during a three-hour call-in show that airs Sunday mornings. His tone is not sarcastic but loving, his aim not to deceive but to reach Christians in need of support, encouragement and pastoral advice. For Saavedra, a lifelong Christian,...

"On numerous occasions, I have lived in 10 different states, largely because -- almost entirely because -- of this career. "I am not married. I have no children. I'm now living 3,000 miles from the closest people of my life. I'm missing my nieces and nephews growing. I hate where I live. I don't even feel like LA is America. I feel like when I come here I ought to go into the international terminal, show my passport."

LONG BEACH Authorities say former television reporter Rod Bernsen was arrested over the weekend after coming off a cruise ship in Long Beach. F-B-I spokeswoman Laura Eimiller says Bernsen, a former Los Angeles Police Department sergeant and K-T-T-V Channel Eleven reporter, was arrested based on allegations he committed a crime aboard a cruise ship. U-S attorney's office spokesman Thom Mrozek said he couldn't say what Bernsen was booked for because the complaint hasn't been filed yet. Eimiller says Bernsen is being held without bail pending an initial appearance tomorrow afternoon in L-A federal court. ----- KFI is reporting it has...

SACRAMENTO A Los Angeles talk radio station said it used the same procedure to access a private part of the governor's Web site that his Democratic rival's campaign used to embarrass him last week with a leaked recording. "We've been hacking them for years, if this is hacking," Jason Nathanson, a former producer for the Jon Ziegler show on KFI 640-AM in Los Angeles, said on the show Tuesday night. State Treasurer Phil Angelides' campaign manager acknowledged Tuesday that two staffers leaked a recording of the governor bantering in his office with his staff to the Los Angeles Times. The...

ANGELES (Reuters) - Karl Rove, U.S. President George W. Bush's senior political advisor, on Tuesday took the administration's message on immigration reform to Latino leaders, saying the country was approaching a "critical moment" in the debate. >br> Speaking at the annual convention of leading Latino civic group the National Council of La Raza, Rove said Bush would work with Republicans and Democrats in coming weeks to push through reform legislation that has bitterly divided Congress, the Republican Party and the nation. "We face a critical moment in our immigration debate, a moment when our nation will make an important decision...

White House adviser Karl Rove is scheduled to speak tomorrow at the annual conference of the federally funded, left-wing, open-borders-advocacy group, the National Council of La Raza. If he does not want his speech to look like an act of appeasement, he should confront La Raza on its opposition to commonsense policies designed to secure both U.S. borders and U.S. pocketbooks. La Raza, which means “The Race” in Spanish, has denounced as “horrendous” and “appalling” the House immigration bill passed in December, which was sponsored by Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R.-Wis.) and supported by the overwhelming majority of House Republicans....

SACRAMENTO — State intelligence reports released Thursday by the Schwarzenegger administration include material suggesting that the governor's anti-terrorism operation was interested in the actions of the Minuteman volunteer border patrol group. The reports also include a cryptic reference to "suspicious conversations at a mosque" in San Diego. TState officials released more than 80 intelligence reports prepared for the state Office of Homeland Security, in response to The Times' disclosure that two reports carried information about domestic political protests ranging from antiwar gatherings to protect-the-seals rallies. Large sections of the reports shown to reporters had been removed. The homeland security office...

Illegal Aliens: A Few Myths to Keep in Mind . . . Mexico City. Last Tuesday the Pew Hispanic Center announced that 41 percent of Mexicans surveyed in February and 46 percent questioned in May stated they would live in the United States if given "the means and opportunity." Indeed, two out of 10 people interviewed said they were prepared to enter the U.S. illegally. These figures could have amazing consequences because our Spanish- speaking neighbor has a population of nearly 106 million inhabitants.

Bringing San Diego to the forefront of the immigration debate, House Republicans will hold field hearings on the issue Wednesday at an Imperial Beach border patrol station. Two opposing immigration bills from the House and Senate will head for negotiations after the hearings senators and representatives are holding across the country this summer. San Diego area representatives have been heavily involved in the debate, some authoring sections of the House bill. Measures proposed in the House bill, H.R. 4437, include: making illegal presence in the country a felony, building 698 miles of fencing along the border, requiring employers to use...

Mexican politicians continuously demand more visas for their citizens, an expanded guest-worker program, and "regularization" of illegal aliens living north of the Rio Grande. While neglecting to mention that the United States admits nearly one million legal newcomers each year, they also fail to publicize: (1) the extremely high salaries they receive, often—in the case of federal and state legislators—more than their counterparts in developed nations that have substantially longer annual sessions, (2) the generous stipends that they grant themselves, including year-end aguinaldos and end-of-term bonuses of tens of thousands of dollars known as bonos de marcha, and (3) the...

In Southern California, conservative radio has reached a new ratings high: first place. That would be KFI-AM we're talking about, home of Rush Limbaugh and morning host Bill Handel. With an overall share of 4.9 revealed in the lastest monthly Arbitron trend report, KFI has rocketed into the number one position, surpassing Spanish language formats and FM music stations. As far as we can tell, it's the first time this has occurred in Los Angeles.

Patriots: A brave young man named Josh Denhalter is organizing a protest that will take place outside of his school campus to respond to the vicious anti-American hatred spewed by MECHA and pro-illegal alien protesters at a rally on Monday. He is fed up with their flying of the Mexican flags and their anti-American rhetoric and wants to fight back. He has attempted to organize a rally on campus but has been thwarted by double talking school administrators who are simply attempting to delay and stonewall to get through the week. Why does the Radio Equalizer have an uneasy feeling we've yet to hear the last of this ugly situation? Very quietly yesterday, the ongoing flap between the Council on American Islamic Relations and KFI/Los Angeles radio talk host Bill Handel was apparently "resolved", via personal and official station apologies to CAIR. As we previously wrote: Almost appearing to relish the idea of a full-blown battle with CAIR, Handel kicked off the latest controversy with cracks about the stampede-related deaths of hundreds during the annual hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. And, from our previous interview with Handel: RE: Are you confident they'll...

KFI Host, Clear Channel Apologize To Muslims Feb. 08, 2006 By Ken Tucker After attracting world-wide attention, Clear Channel talk KFI Los Angeles morning man Bill Handel and Clear Channel have apologized to Muslims for comments Handel made on his Jan. 12 show. The Southern California office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced that Handel and the station have apologized for mocking the deaths of Muslims on Hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca. Handel has also been reprimanded in writing by the station for his "insensitive remarks." As previously reported, CAIR had demanded that Handel apologize and be disciplined....

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Muslim civil rights group said Wednesday it has received an apology from the host of a Los Angeles radio show for making fun of a stampede that killed hundreds of Muslims during an annual pilgrimage. The Council on American-Islamic Relations demanded an apology from KFI-AM 640 host Bill Handel after he made fun of the deaths of at least 363 Muslims during the Jan. 12 stampede. According to CAIR, Handel imitated the people screaming and then joked that the pilgrims should use a helicopter to monitor pilgrimage traffic as is done in Los Angeles with...

LOS ANGELES - A Los Angeles radio personality said Monday he would apologize for an on-air skit that made fun of the deaths of hundreds of Muslims, but only if an Islamic civil rights group denounces terrorism and acknowledges Israel's right to exist. The Council of American Islamic Relations demanded the apology last week after KFI 640 host Bill Handel made fun of the deaths of at least 363 Muslims during a stampede at an annual pilgrimage in Mecca. It would be difficult to conjure up a more dramatic illustration of just how utterly broken our public dialogue is than what happened at Senator Barbara Boxer’s Burbank “Press Conference” to announce (to the surprise of absolutely no one) that she was voting against the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court. After all, what could be more basic to a productive and healthy exchange of ideas in a democratic republic than asking questions about the validity of very strong statements that an elected official makes in justifying a decision as important as deciding to vote against...

Think the debate over Tookie Williams ended with his execution? Guess again. Issuing a public challenge, The Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable’s Earl Ofari Hutchinson and Jasmyne Cannick have accused KFI's John and Ken of racism. They insist proof is found in the pair's supposed reluctance to insist a white man on death row be quickly put to death: The Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable’s Earl Ofari Hutchinson and Jasmyne Cannick have issued a public challenge to controversial radio hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou of the John and Ken Show of AM 640 KFI (Los Angeles) to prove that...

Is talk radio really just an entertainment medium, or do listeners expect bona fide activism from air personalities? In the past, I'd always believed it was about appealing to a segment of the radio audience and primarily reflecting that group's political viewpoints. It's now clear, however, that faced with an increasing number of new media choices, talk radio listeners want quite a lot more. Simply being entertaining, timely and compelling isn't enough: led by the blogosphere, there's a sense that if the Internet can hold Dan Rather accountable, why can't talk radio? Blogs have raised the bar and hosts are...

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable’s Earl Ofari Hutchinson and Jasmyne Cannick have issued a public challenge to controversial radio hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou of the John and Ken Show of AM 640 KFI (Los Angeles) to prove that they are not promoting racial double standards when it comes to the death penalty. The John and Ken Show dedicated the hour of 5 p.m. as “Kill Tookie/Tookie Must Die Hour” for over a month. During this time, KFI purposely followed around Black community activists, religious and civil rights leaders who were in support of clemency...

FREE REPUBLIC REFERENCE THREAD On the link above, we discussed the Stanley Tookie Williams execution. KFI did great reporting from the scene, but they could finish their broadcast from San Quentin because it apparently became too dangerous. The crowd of peaceful leftists were deemed enough of a threat by KFI security, that John Ziegler ended his portion of the broadcast before 10pm and had to get out of there. Perhaps the highlight, or lowlight, occured when Zig was trying to ask Jesse Jackson questions. Jackson had been asked by John and Ken earlier and by Zig to name the...

Looking for easy scapegoats after a series of violent "white" vs. "Arab" attacks in Australia, Islamic leaders and news media outlets have been quick to fault talk radio for fanning the flames. From the London Times: - Yesterday, Islamic leaders blamed the trouble on influential talk radio hosts who had whipped up racial tensions in the wake of last weekend’s attack on the lifesavers, who epitomise Australia’s white traditions and Anglo-Saxon roots. From The Mercury in South Africa: - The President of the Islamic Friendship Association of Australia, Keysar Trad, said the violence was "bound to happen" after callers to...

After KFI made an initial announcement earlier today that Gov. Schwarzeneggar was going to announce today at 3pm whether he has made a decision (he was not going to tell the decision), KFI has backtracked. On its 3pm news broadcast, KFI reported that a Schwarzeneggar spokesperson has put out the word to the news media that they should call tomorrow after 3pm to see if he had made a decision. There was no confirmation that the governor would have a decision or that, if he had a decision, he would announce it. The drama continues. This is so unfair to...

Pursuant to the L.A. County's recent presentation of arguments in the Tookie Williams case, the following are their crime statistics for gang-related crimes in the city of Los Angeles in 2004. HOMICIDES: 291 ATTEMPTED HOMICIDES: 717 FELONY ASSAULTS: 2,616 ATTACKS ON POLICE: 61 ROBBERIES: 2,308 KIDNAPPINGS: 44 RAPES: 36 WITNESS INTIMIDATION: 754 ACTS OF EXTORTION: 20 CARJACKINGS: 188 It must be noted that these are only those crimes where victims were brave enough to contact the police and in just the city of Los Angeles. The actual number of crimes is likely significantly higher. The quadruple murderer (probably more), the...
