Cracker Barrel Bails on Phil's Products
TMZ ^ | 12/21/2013 | TMZ Staff

Cracker Barrel has become the first sponsor to cut bait with "Duck Dynasty" ... but not entirely.

The Southern-themed food chain reacted to Phil Robertson's anti-gay comments by removing "selected products which we were concerned might offend some of our guests" from their stores and restaurants.

We called a bunch of Cracker Barrel stores, and the managers told us the products that were removed were the ones that had Phil's face plastered on the packaging. Almost to a person, the managers added, "We still offer a wide variety of Duck Commander products," and then we heard a click.

C.B. offers this explanation ... "We operate within the ideals of fairness, mutual respect and equal treatment of all people. These ideals are the core of our corporate culture."

My understanding that the merchandise being pulled is Duck Dynasty merchandise licensed by A&E.

The Duck Commander merchandise , which is licensed through the family is still on the shelves.

There are many Cracker Barrel restaurants near us and my family and friends go there frequently. Not any more. Not after this. And I don’t even watch Duck Dynasty.

Duck Dynasty brand is owned by A&E.
Duck Commander brand is owned by the Robertsons.

It appears that the A&E brand has been taken out of their stores, but not the Robetson’s brand.

This has got to be the stupidest marketing move since New Coke.

But . . . but it worked so well with Howard Stern.

I’d boycott them, but I don’t think I’ve ever been to a cracker barrel in my life. If I have, I’ve forgotten it.

Most of these corporate types would enjoy that.

I sent them an email -- I told them they were bigoted, offensive and hate-filled. I criticized their intolerance and their lack of respect for certain (Christian) lifestyles.

The Left (and their supporters) need to take its own medicine.

Know your market! I dare say, many of the folk who chow-down at CB also watch DD and do not like this asinine PC maneuver.

It just astounds me how many corporations are completely clueless when it comes to knowing their customer base.

It also appears that many corporate execs don't follow the news well enough to have noted the disastrous self-inflicted wounds that other businesses have brought upon themselves by choosing to knuckle under to the pc gestapo.

Cases such as these prove the old adage, "Stupid Hurts".

Really enjoyed their Big Boy breakfast with country ham. May have to scratch it off my list.

Exactly. Their branding never appealed to the “hipster” crowd anyway, so this is a really stupid move.

Who cares. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never had a good experience at a Cracker Barrel.

It appears that the A&E brand has been taken out of their stores, but not the Robetson’s brand.

The official statement by Cracker Barrel doesn't indicate that at all. It's a bunch of blather about "fairness, inclusion, tolerance, etc."

If Cracker Barrel still supports the family, their statement should say that clearly. It doesn't, which tells me that they're bowing to the gaystapo.

All the choices we have in this nation for sustenance and entertainment, and some (not referring to anyone here) act like it is a darn sacrifice to not watch a&e or not eat at CB to live their principles. It’s not like anyone’s getting fed to the lions, yet. Are things like this really too tough? Then what are they going to do if they are really called upon to compromise or suffer?

I suspect CB has turned their back on their main demographic.
