“If it’s so much more expensive than what we anticipated and if the coverage is not as good as what we had, you’ve got a complete meltdown at that time,” the West Virginia Democrat said in an interview that aired Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “This transitional year gives you a chance to adjust the product for the market.”
Manchin is pushing legislation with Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) that would delay the individual mandate for another year.
“It falls under its own weight if the cost becomes more than we can absorb,” Manchin said.
I am 63. My new year resolution is to get healthier from diet changes and improved exercise. The last thing I want is to use or healthcare system.

Manchin plays his constituents the same way Evan Bayh did in Indiana. Acts morre conservative when he talks to his state, then goes to DC and votes with the progressives. So far, that BS works.

Manchin’s vote was the deciding vote in passing ObamaCare. Never forget that Obama needed every Democrat vote, and he got them....so Manchin, Pryor, Landrieu, Begich et al each cast the deciding vote for this monstrous program. They should be held fully accountable for the consequences.
They should, they would turn their sullied image around over night…but there's a problem: this once honorable industry, which by the way is necessary for any economy to advance, is now run by cronies who don't really understand, let alone have the cojones to support, the free market any more. Greedy consumers, and we all know friends who brag about "sticking it to" an insurance company, are part of the problem too.
The industry is now run by highly educated Ivy League types who wouldn't know the real America or the free market if it bit them on the ass……and they have shown their ignorance here, signing onto this thinking that either A; the lib bureaucrats could design this right and B: Americans would put up with it. It is one of the great industry lessons of our lifetimes….

As Dear Leader Obama said to AFL-CIO in 2003, single payer is goal, and will take several steps and maybe ten years to become reality. Now it is 2013, and plan is on schedule, as soon as destruction of obsolete so-called “free market” medical insurance corporations is complete. All according to plan, comrades! Soon, single-payer National Socialist healthcare will be reality for all good comrades, like in best years of former Soviet Union! And best of all, with hard work by commissar-navigators in new ACA-NSA-IRS data-hub fusion centers, bad comrades from reactionary “tea party” groups will soon “get minds right,” or no operation or brat kids, or medicine for useless feeders like old granny! Like comrade Zeke Emmanuel says, only good comrades of productive working years need good National Socialist healthcare! For others, take pain pill, like said Dear Leader Obama!
The only way to “fix” it is to throw trillions of dollars at it and if Democrats were in control of congress that is exactly what they would be doing right now. By hook or crook.
Democrats have lost all credibility and the way to get it back is to spend trillions to patch up the monstrosity and make appear to work.
We don’t have trillions of dollars to spare so it would mean massive taxes on the American people and American businesses. The only thing preventing this is the fact that Republicans control the House... for now.
Obama delayed the mandate for everyone who had insurance that was canceled. But he didn't delay it for the people who didn't have insurance previously. How does this make any sense?
