Partaking a little early?
LOL! Thanks for the laugh.
Check out any ranking of donor money, fan base, etc and Ohio State is in the top five, with Texas usually at the top and Ohio State usually #2 or close to it.
He’s lost one game in two years so far with a team that isn’t even his. Meyer will not only have the tradition of OSU but also the recruiting ties in Florida and SEC country to pick off good recruits. Like Charlie Strong at Louisville who has sucked up top players out of S FL, Meyer is that on steroids. I would put Urban Meyer near the top of the list in terms of football IQ and recruiting skills, behind Saban and maybe no one else. I agree, the Big Ten has been down overall, but so has everyone but the SEC the past decade. I am not an Ohio State fan first, but Tressel ran a great program and was top 1-2 in the country quite often with one BCS championship. Meyer picked up a wounded team that lost a lot of talent from the scandal and scholarship limits for the short term. I have no doubt he will be a regular fixture in the new format’s top 4.
I do think it was a blessing they lost to MSU because they would not have done well this year with either FSU or Auburn. They aren’t at that level yet.
On this 2010 list, Ohio State is 8th, while Texas is number one.
I can’t quite agree with you on Meyer’s genius..Gators have a built in advantage with the tremendous talent pool in state. Meyer got hot at the same time that both FSU and Miami hit a rough streak..Programs are cyclical..
We see here in Florida the flaws in Meyer’s program..the type of kids he brought in.. ( see Hernandez, Aaron, et al) the weak discipline standards..he got out while the getting was good. Boom did a superb job last season...except for the Bowl loss..injuries were brutal this season.. I think Boom is a great DC..but over his head as a head coach..
What you say about Charlie Strong is 100% true..he’s the real deal..I’d also point out that he was on Meyer’s staff when they won the two titles..
My apologies! I assumed your OSU was Oklahoma State University, lol - and that did give some of us a laugh. Not accustomed to Ohio State being referred to as OSU.
You are absolutely correct about the donor money, fan base, etc regarding Ohio State being closely aligned with Texas.
I also look at Meyer in Utah and at Bowling Green before that. He usually takes a team and immediately goes undefeated with the previous guy’s talent. I know there are questions about his team discipline, etc, and some is valid. I also think it’s a mixed bag. For example, he did kick out Cam Newton of all people at Florida. Time will tell, but right now the numbers seem to show he’s pretty good.
Haha. I was wondering about that, because a couple people jumped on that statement. It felt very 'rivalry-esque'. OK State...definitely not in the same league as those big universities....no question there.
AKA "T Boone Pickens U."
Roll Tide. Curb stomp the gooners.
If you're Alabama... which OU offense do you prepare for? Or do you really care either way :)
That was my understanding, as well.
Fair enough. But Clemson didn’t choke against my Gamecocks. We pounded them as we have now for 5 years in a row. I agree the B1G is not what it used to be but OSU will beat Clemson.
I’m guessing if Saban had any thoughts of Texas, or Texas had any thoughts of Saban.... Stoops may have squelched that last night.
Not so much... huh?
UT’s #1 criteria for a coach is to beat OU
so here's Willie's tiny guitar. Hit the road Mack.
Yep..... that’s what I would guess.
