DAILY CURRANT – Colorado is reconsidering its decision to legalize recreational pot following the deaths of dozens due to marijuana overdoses.

According to a report in the Rocky Mountain News, 37 people were killed across the state on January 1st, the first day the drug became legal for all adults to purchase. Several more are clinging onto life in local emergency rooms and are not expected to survive.

“It’s complete chaos here,” says Dr. Jack Shepard, chief of surgery at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, “I’ve put five college students in body bags since breakfast and more are arriving every minute.

"Not more “aware”. More concerned, yes. Especially if you are going to die and take out others when you crash."

Sorta, but they are still under an influence of a drug that causes changes in judgment. I don't want a pot "high" person driving next to me and my wife. If ever legalized, it should have the same restrictions for alcohol abusers. NO TOKING AND DRIVING.

It is not possible to "overdose" on marijuana.

Sure it is. It won't kill you...but it will turn you into a zombie.

I know, I was one.

Stoned morons never get behind the wheel of a car and kill others?

No, but they might drive 5 MPH on the highway.

LOL, "hoax" implies that someone of even subnormal intelligence might believe it's true.

It's a JOKE article.

I don’t know anything about it, I’ve just never heard of it.

6th most popular newspaper in Nigeria is pretty funny.

However, this quote is not:

“We told everyone this would happen,” says Peter Swindon, President and CEO of local brewer MolsonCoors, “Marijuana is a deadly hardcore drug that causes addiction and destroys lives.
“When was the last time you heard of someone overdosing on beer? All these pro-marijuana groups should be ashamed of themselves. The victims’ blood is on their hands.””

Actually, according to the head of the trauma dept at Harbor View Hospital in Seattle, 60% of hospitalized accident vics are there because of ALCOHOL. Because most states do not require alcohol to be listed as a cause of death, it isn’t.

QFT.

Funny, though, that as soon as it was legalized in CO for fun, I no longer have any interest in doing it.

Lord knows I tried.

If I couldn't do it, it isn't possible.

Marijuana of course does not kill, and even driving high is not that dangerous.

If I were driving high, no one on the road would be safe. I KNOW this from experience. Dangerous stuff, and definitely not for me. OTOH, one drink seems perfectly safe. More than that, I am a danger to self and others.

Saying NO to more is easy for me, but for those with addictive personalities, it's not. So watch out.

One of the those victims was 29-year-old Jesse Bruce Pinkman, a former methamphetamine dealer from Albuquerque who had recently moved to Boulder to establish a legal marijuana dispensary.

“Breaking Bad” fans will be heartbroken.

"At least they stayed away from the brown acid. That would have been a real bummer."

Yeah, but the Window Pane would have been pure...just kidding. Lysergic acid is not a drug anyone should take. The hallucinations are just too vivid and so many people thought they could do anything back in 60's and died.

Remember Timothy Leary who preached it was the next level of consciousness? He was so wrong. It was simply a thought-altering drug (as is alcohol - think beer glasses late at night) that gave the illusion of such.
