Candy Crowley: If I’m Unemployed or on Minimum Wage, ‘Why Would I Become Republican?’

On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, host Candy Crowley asked a question of Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wisc.) that should offend people on both sides of the aisle.

“If I am an unemployed American…or if I am a minimum wage worker… why would I become a Republican?” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

(video link)

CANDY CROWLEY: If I am an unemployed American and I hear from Republicans that, “Yeah, you know, we should go ahead and do that provided we do the following three things,” and it’s a caveat approval of extending those [unemployment] benefits, or if I am a minimum wage worker and I find, I see Republicans who say, “You know what? It's artificial, it messes with the marketplace, it might mean some teens can't get into the job market,” why would I become a Republican? How do you message that in any way to reach out to those who are disinclined to sign up for the Republican Party?

Doesn’t Crowley know that she indicted the Democratic Party as one that is basically buying votes?

So someone that’s currently unemployed or on minimum wage must support politicians that promote policies that hurt the very job creation that might lead to them having better lives?

And if Republicans aren’t willing to support such failed policies, it behooves such an individual to be a Democrat thereby potentially condemning him or herself to mediocrity and possibly lifetime government dependence?

Clearly, Crowley has forgotten that in 1980, a great deal of unemployed and minimum wage workers voted for Ronald Reagan because they realized Democratic policies weren't helping them.

As you would expect, Walker was ready for Crowley’s socialist view, and expertly countered it: . .

My question is why this fat, overpaid miserable excuse of a journalist has a job? Couldn't find a taxicab to drive?

Cringing Negativism Network said: "Use your interests in the government to enact some universal import tariffs, and watch America’s economy take back off."

If "universal import tariffs" were a sensible way to protect a nation's jobs, then China and India can simply enact such tariffs at the same time we do in order to keep jobs from returning to the U.S., can't they?

"Universal import tariff" would be a mechanism of increasing the income of people who are not competitive in a world market and decreasing the income of people who are comptetive. You expect this to benefit the U.S.?

Many Japanese products were considered cheap junk when I was a kid in the fifties. Products "made in Japan" were of inferior quality and were very inexpensive.

Gradually Japan increased the quality of their products and the resulting economic success translated into a higher standard of living for their people. Their success with automating the production of television CRTs caused the shutdown of non-competitive U.S. manufacturers.

Once the standard of living of the average Japanese worker approached that of workers in the U.S., it became increasingly more difficult to provide competitive products. The Japanese government was mistakenly convinced that it was the actions of government that were responsible for Japanese success rather than the actions of innovative companies.

Now Japan finds itself in an overly controlled economy with an aging population, a declining ability to innovate. and huge public debt. Economically, they look very much like the U.S.

Candy Crowley: If I’m Unemployed or on Minimum Wage, ‘Why Would I Become Republican?’...because if you had more than half a brain in your head you'd understand that it's Republicans who advocate and push for a strong and growing private economy, which is your best chance to get a job and eventually a promotion - if you have the proper skills, that is - of course if you doubt your abilities and competence, I can see why you'd stick with the 'rats to look after you......

If you are chronically working for minimum wage, that’s not the kind of person I would want the Republicans to reach out to anyway.

Not American jobs. No.

Right now we seem to have exported all jobs.

We can bring back those for America.

From the look of things, we should start. Right now, we are giving everything to our competitors.

That is not a good long-term policy.

Just saying.

I’m afraid it’s inexorable at this point. I’m usually not a pessimist, but it seems to have acquired too much momentum.

That Crowley, a jack booted (to be charitable – heavy boots are pretty much the only footwear that fits her) party propagandist in the hallowed tradition of Joseph Goebbels (if not Aleister Crowley) is still a “respected” card carrying member of the press and continues to hold court at CNN, the “premier cable news network,” after playing such an obvious role in throwing last year’s election says a lot about the state of the Nation. Crowley famously declared after Romney thrashed Obama, her witless ideological paramour, in the first debate that she was not going to be a “fly on the wall” when she moderated the second debate:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/oct/17/curl-crowley-skews-hard-obama-disastrous-debate/

That “not being a fat fly on the wall” would mean taking flight or perhaps more accurately - slithered down the wall - to play a key role in a pre-orchestrated plan to throw the debate (and perhaps the election) for Obama is incredible. A year later it is clear that Obama lied about Obamacare. He lied about the IRS and NSA spying and he most definitely lied about Benghazi. Crowley knew the Obama WH was a lying about Benghazi before the debate. She knew Obama was a lying in the debate – but that was pre-orchestrated, but for any who question this subterfuge, there can be no question that she most certainly knows it is a lie now, yet her image still lies before us on CNN broadcasts. Maybe she should be known as the mother-of-lies.

“If I am an unemployed American…or if I am a minimum wage worker… why would I become a Republican?”
Because you don't want to stay that way for the rest of your life.
. . . or if I am a minimum wage worker… why would I become a Republican?”
Because you don’t want to have a high wage per hour, but no employer willing to pay for any hours at that rate.
