  • A couple good documentaries if you are looking for something non-mindless to watch

Since a lot of people talk about various personal health issues here for a number of reasons, I wanted to pass along two documentaries I watched recently and thought have good information for people to review. First, is one called "Fat Head". It is done by a science writer that basically refutes the "Supersize Me" documentary. It discusses how a high carb, low fat and protein diet is the cause of obesity in America, and it's exactly what the government and health groups are demanding people follow to "get healthy". It gives an excellent easy understanding of why this does...

On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, host Candy Crowley asked a question of Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wisc.) that should offend people on both sides of the aisle. “If I am an unemployed American…or if I am a minimum wage worker… why would I become a Republican?” (video follows with transcript and commentary): (video link) CANDY CROWLEY: If I am an unemployed American and I hear from Republicans that, “Yeah, you know, we should go ahead and do that provided we do the following three things,” and it’s a caveat approval of extending those [unemployment] benefits, or if I am...

A savior or a sell-out? A compromise or compromised? -snip- “HE DOESN’T GIVE a s—- what people think,” a Republican “close” to Chris Christie told Politico after the governor denounced the Republican House and Speaker Boehner (yes, by name) for voting down a pork-laden aid bill in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. We pretty much knew Christie felt that way, though it was good to see it confirmed in writing. The bigger question, one that should concern Christie, is what people think about him. We know he’s home safe in New Jersey, cruising toward re-election this November as he enjoys...

A blistering federal discrimination suit accuses agency honcho Janet Napolitano of turning the [Homeland Security] department into a female-run “frat house” where male staffers were banished to the bathrooms and routinely humiliated. James Hayes Jr., who now is New York’s top Homeland Security cop, claims Napolitano filled top spots in Washington, D.C., with two of her gal pals who were bent on tormenting male employees. The suit identified them as Dora Schriro, who is now running the city Department of Correction, and Suzanne Barr, the chief of staff for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

ABC's Jonathan Karl Tuesday published a piece now prominently featured at the Drudge Report with a headline guaranteed to be the Obama-loving media's lead story concerning something Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich wrote over five years ago: "Gingrich ’06 Memo: 'Agree Entirely With Gov. Romney' on Health Care." Inside the actual document uncovered by BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski, the former Speaker didn't "agree entirely with Gov. Romney" at all (emphasis added):

when you're talking about Glenn Beck now he actually, the other day, called you a progressive on FOX Business channel. What do you say to that sort of claim?" Gingrich: "I don't know. It depends on what standard you're using, you know? The fact is I balanced the budget for four consecutive years. And we did so by cutting taxes and increasing employment so people went back to work, they left welfare, they left food stamps, they left unemployment, they left Medicaid. Michael Barone has called attention to threats made by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius against private companies that dare to criticize Obamacare. The Obama administration, Sebelius warned, would impose a "zero tolerance" policy against dissent. Barone denounces this latest outrage as gangster government. Actually, it's worse than gangster government, much worse. Take a good look at the Obamacare logo. An eagle with wings outstretched atop a circular emblem of the regime. Where have we seen such an image before? What socialist regime, in Europe not so many decades ago, used such imagery? Hmmmm....

BARACK Obama rejected yesterday claims that he was so confident of winning the White House he had already started writing his inauguration speech. He returned in fighting form to his US presidential campaign after an emotional mercy dash to farewell his dying grandmother. Republican presidential nominee John McCain, who faces almost impossible odds to win the election in nine days, launched a spirited attack on Senator Obama yesterday, claiming he was arrogantly taking the election for granted. He seized on a New York Times report suggesting that Senator Obama's team was already preparing the groundwork for his new administration. "Senator...

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's socialist President Hugo Chavez blamed the United States for violent protests in Tibet during the last two weeks that he said were aimed at trying to destabilize China. In comments reported by his press office on Sunday, Chavez said the protests were an example of the U.S. "empire" "going against China" and trying to divide the Asian powerhouse. Communist China has occupied Tibet, a Buddhist region previously ruled by monks, since a military invasion in 1950. At least 19 people were killed after protests and rioting against the occupation broke out on March 10. China has...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Al Gore -- star of an Oscar-winning movie, former U.S. vice president and the object of 2008 presidential speculation -- on Wednesday took his crusade against global warming to Capitol Hill. Glad-handing like the lifelong politician he was until losing the 2000 presidential race to George W. Bush, Gore called his return to Congress "an emotional occasion." But he did not mince words on what he termed the current climate crisis: "Our world faces a true planetary emergency." Before a joint House panel dealing with energy, air quality and the environment and the Senate Environment and Public...

Have you heard the latest? Michael Moore is a hypocritical racist. One of the bodyguards that Michael Moore has used in the past for personal protection, and who reportedly accompanied Moore to New York earlier this month, was arrested at JFK airport for carrying an unlicensed handgun in his luggage. While he was licensed to carry a weapon in some other states, he was not in New York. So what's the big deal? Let's see...how about the fact that Michael Moore, famous (or infamous) for films such as Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11 and other equally distorted depictions of "reality"...

John McCain called Michael Moore a "disingenuous filmmaker" at the Republican National Covention. He did not know that Lard*ss was in the house. So, Lard*ss smiled, stood up, and gave the "L" for Loser sign. Today, the disingenuous filmmaker is in hiding. Have fun mocking him. He is one of the most disgusting human beings to ever be involved in the political process. Thanks to flashbunny for adding the appropriate word to the photo.

DREIER LOSES ELECTION DAY VOTE!!! It is 2:20am on November 3, 2004. I wanted to make it clear to everyone that while we lost the election we won election day. Dreier broke out in an early lead after the absentee ballots were counted. From that moment forward every time new results were release Matthews gained ground on him. As far as votes cast on November 2nd Dreier lost. The absentee votes saved him. Plus he had to spend a million dollars to keep his job. This is the closest race Dreier has ever had. This campaign was a success. Dreier...

WELL, WELL, WELL. Guess who has become the New Hampshire Democrats' favorite New Hampshire Republican. "Buffalo" Bob, that's who. "Buffalo" Bob Smith, that is, the former two-term U.S. senator and three-term member of the U.S. House. Since all but a few months of those 18 years of service in the U.S. Congress were as a Republican, you might have expected a big turnout of "name" Republicans at the testimonial for Bob held at the Center of New Hampshire in Manchester a week ago. But the noticeably absent included Bob's former congressional colleagues, like U.S. Senators Judd Gregg and John E....
