Between Mr B and some very good friends,
I didn’t miss a day of work even though I had no car.
Losing my independence was the worst part of it.

It reminds me of the Alka-Seltzer commercials with Alice Playten from 1968. Marshmallow meatballs, anyone?

Good evening, spel, and thank you for the Friday Night Edition of the Salsa Addiction Emergency Room! ((HUGS))
Gotta go check out my theme. LOL! I have had the day from Hades. My day started with a list of people who were paid incorrectly for several weeks in December. It took me almost 4 hours of looking up, finding copies, etc, to prove that every one of them was paid correctly. The return email, with copies attached, was very satisfying. I haven’t heard anything back. Then a couple phone calls about “you paid me the wrong rate” and “you missed my OT hours”....again, I won! Satisfying, but my planned work doesn’t get done.

FIFTY YEARS AGO TODAYThey started out as The Opposites, because one guy was studying for the ministry he teaches today at Glendale Community College in Southern California and the other was working to become a private investigator. Producer Terry Melcher, the son of Martin Melcher and Doris Day, signed them at Columbia Records and hired the famous Wrecking Crew to back them up insofar as neither of them could play a note. Given a new name, they got this one up to #19 on the charts on its way up. Car songs were all the rage back then; there was a lot of testosterone running around.

In a just world, Lenny Welch would have had a bigger career; his voice was one of the best of his era. This should have been a blockbuster hit.

His style of R&B singing reminds me a lot of Clyde McPhatter.

I will give that a try on Monday. Ever since I got the new computer (I still have Vista...this is my work computer), I never get a note to clean out that stuff.

Soeur Sourire: Dominique That one certainly did come out of left field--This French-language ballad of Albigensian crusader Domingo de Guzmán spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 in December, 1963.
