Brit Hume: ‘Old-Fashioned Tough Guys’ Like Christie Can’t Survive in Today’s ‘Feminized Atmosphere’
Mediaite ^ | January 12, 2014 | Evan McMurry

Brit Hume has himself a theory about why New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s got this nagging “bully” reputation hanging round his neck: it’s not his fault, see, he’s just a bull in the emasculated china shop of the world.

“In this sort of feminized atmosphere in which we exist today, guys who are masculine and muscular like that in their private conduct, kind of old-fashioned tough guys, run some risks,” Hume said on Sunday’s Media Buzz.

He’s got a point.

The metrosexuals are taking over our cities.

I agree. He tries to talk tough, but it comes through to me as a smart a$$, blow hard punk. It doesn’t work for him. A REAL tough guy doesn’t have to be bellicose and try so hard to be tough. . . he just IS, and everybody can see it and feel it. It is exuded in their “presence” . . . walk softly and carry a big stick.

Used to be a HUGE Brit Hume fan, but he criticized Sarah Palin unfairly on at least one circumstance.

I have seen Sarah speak highly of him once since that, so if she can forgive him (assuming she even heard what he said) then so can I.

However thats not the only thing I have against him, he is not very conservative is basically the issue.

I still would have to consider him one of the better folks on Fox, but I heard him a few times dumping on Social Conservatives/Tea party folks to often.

I remember him especially fondly in the early days of Fox News, I heard him once on election night some years ago say...THIS IS GOOD FOR OUR SIDE, slip of the tongue, was speaking to Michael Barone on air.

Brit certainly had authority on Special Report during his run, to have Social Conservatives on his panel, but chose not to. I emailed him and his replacement Bret Baer on this issue multiple times.

Baer has actually answered my emails quite often, he does not agree with me that Special Report does NOT have Tea Party or Social Conservatives on the panel.

He wont admit that Tea Party Social Conservatives are only discussed in the third person on his program.

Fox latest moves are clearly moving farther left. The New Media guy, they got from CNN, his name slips my mind this moment, but feel like I am watching CNN when his show comes on

Like on CNN, the new show generally has 3 libs including himself with 1 moderate Republican for “conservative viewpoint??? Why did they ever agree to that?

As for Christie...I am rooting on the media dumping on him

The thing about Crispie Donuts that almost none of the Marxist run press is talking about, is that ALL this crap coming out about him is a direct result of the Marxist regime in the WH. This is how the Kenyan works: He stabs his “pals” in the back to draw attention away from himself. I mean come on, the SAME week this stuff about Robert Gates comes out this happens? And the Marxist propaganda machine is going to stretch this out as far as they can.

if richard J daley of chicago had shut down lake shore drive to punish a rogue alderman, i can only imagine the apology coming from the alderman would be barely heard over the hearty laughter of the press

And there you are. Essential distillation. Thank you.

I should have said “hardball tactics”, the other word just came readily to mind because it’s New Jersey politics.

Right on. Think about the meaning of the word “bully” vs words that describe true tough guys, no one would ever call “Dirty Harry” or even a real life figure like Dick Cheney a “bully”. That’s because they did hard things and stood behind their actions, firmly and politely.

I’ve said it several times on threads about Christie: the tone is set by the man at the top. Anyone who has ever worked for an executive or top management type knows that you don’t go around doing things without firmly knowing that your boss would approve of them. These people played “small ball” because that’s how their boss rolls.

Hume used to be pretty dead on. In this case, not even close.

Christie’s problem is with conservative base. And it has nothing to do with ‘Today’s Feminized Atmosphere’.

Vchristie should’ve said yeah, well thats the way we do things.

The feminists thrive in New Jersey so do
Tough guys

Republicans even traitorous ones like him, can’t survive in this media.

Brit won’t talk about the national and Obama scandals. He’s part of the problem

What a bunch of crap. Christie is a bully and a megalomaniac pure and simple. I’ve been around a VERY long time and have never lived through any American period/culture where Chrsistie’s behavior is acceptable. When is being a man defined as being a blustering, horrible, mean, charlatan? Cruelty and screaming has zero to do with being masculine. It is indicative of sociopathy.

Hume is a fool. Christie is bordering on sociopath.

What an insult to masculinity this was.

Is Hume really this stupid, or does he just pretend to be so he can hide his RINO-Elitism behind Karl Rove’s considerable backside?

Hey, Brit: There is a difference between being a tough guy, and being a bully.
