Ticket prices plummet weekend before Super Bowl (18K still available)

So much for being the most expensive Super Bowl ever.

With ticket prices in a freefall, seats for Sunday’s MetLife Stadium matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos could end up being the least expensive for a Super Bowl since the post-9/11 game of 2002.

After hitting record highs last week, ticket prices took a nose dive over the weekend, with the cheapest prices plummeting nearly 50 percent, to a low of $1,150 from about $2,200 at 9 a.m. on Jan. 19.

TV pics of the Meadowlands look like Moscow in the depths of winter. Whoever thought this was a great idea should be fired.

For once, as a lifelong Packer fan I agree with Da Coach.
Playoff games have to have a home team, sometimes that means cold or snow. This was a CHOICE by the NFL driven 100 % by $$$$$$$$$$$.

PS

The Bears still suck!

Although it looks like the NFL is going to dodge the bullet and get ordinary cold instead of Arctic Deep Freeze.

Daily Buzz: Blimpin' ain't easy

That's according to Newsday, which reports that blimps won't be floating around Sunday's game between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks because the weather makes them too difficult --” and potentially dangerous -- to fly.

To spend even $1,150 for a Pooper Bowl ticket is stupid.

$2,200 is insane.

Like heck they did. Under da Coach, da 85 Bears were one of the greatest NFL teams ever, and I mean ever. (Of course I live in Chicagoland, and I went right through that season with them, and loved every minute of it.) Maybe it’s you that s**k for thinking that.

Wait. Wait.

So this means that the economy isn’t really booming?

Are they (NFL) trying to sell enough tickets so they (NFL) don’t have to blackout the game in the New York/New Jersey area? /s

Whoever thought this was a great idea should be fired.

Amen. I've been saying that for a while now. You have to be pretty well off to go to a Super Bowl, between the airfare, hotel, meals, and miscellaneous expenses, then throw in the tickets, and you're into like seven or eight grand, maybe more. Who in their right mind would spend that kind of money go to a Super Bowl in an open stadium in the Northeast in February?

Spending two days driving to Florida and just lounging on the beach would be more pleasant, relaxing, and cheaper, and you don't have to fight your way through the crowded, crime ridden liberal hell of New Jersey.

“So this means that the economy isn’t really booming?”

They’ll use every excuse, from the weather to the fact that both teams are from the west, to obscure the fact that the economy, especially in the northeast, is in shambles. I hear this in a variety of businesses (bars/restaurants, retail, charitable giving); total denial that the economy of 20 years ago is gone (and probably won’t be back any time soon).

The refrigerator.

It’s good to be the king.

There is one key reason for this that isn't being mentioned: The security restrictions.

There's parking for about 10,000 cars. Most of the wealthy NYers who could afford these tickets, and would go to the game..go by limousine. They'd normally be dropped off in front of the stadium, and picked up after the game. However, security is NOT allowing this..they've set up several drop off point some miles from the stadium, and people have to take buses from there to MetLife, and then back after the game. This is gonna take hours, each way..and these people won't stand for that inconvenience, especially if it's freezing out side.

Really? You are a bears fan and you don’t understand the joke? “The Bears Still Suck” song has been around forever and it is nothing personal.
