Senate intelligence report takes GOP tirades about Benghazi head-on (Dems view, barf alert)
Washington Post ^ | Jan. 17, 2014 | David Ignatius

Driving the Republican jihad was a claim, first reported in October 2012 by Fox News, that CIA personnel had wanted to respond more quickly to the Benghazi attack but were ordered to “stand down,” perhaps by political higher-ups. Although this claim was promptly rebutted by CIA officials, it was repeated by Fox News at least 85 times, according to a review by the liberal advocacy group Media Matters. This barrage fueled Republican charges that the Democrats were engaging in a coverup.

The Senate intelligence report addressed this inflammatory charge head-on. “The committee explored claims that there was a ‘stand down’ order given to the security team at the annex. Although some members of the security team expressed frustration that they were unable to respond more quickly to the mission compound, the committee found no evidence of intentional delay or obstruction by the chief of [the CIA] base or any other party.”

This was sent in an email to me by a very liberal colleague, even though it was also published in the Post. The entire segment is worth reading, even though it will make us angry. I think it useful to know what lies and distortions the Democrats are perpetuating so that we know how to counter these ridiculous statements. We really need some able spokesmen to counter all such Democratic statements, this year in particular.

What I find interesting, in view of my liberal colleagues, is that this was from a history professor. One might think that historians would have been trained to study all sides of an issue, but apparently they are not interested in examining anything that would tarnish the current administration. This professor stressed that there is NO interest in any discussion of these Benghazi issues with me....

Begs the question of just why they stepped down. If they’d done what they could would they regret it?

Three ways of stand down at Benghazi.

Tripoli rescue team told to stand down.

Hicks: Special Forces ‘Furious’ Upon Being Told to Stand Down video at link

"According to Benghazi whistleblower Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission in Libya, special forces were “furious” when they were told to stand down during the Benghazi attack. “I will quote Lieutenant Colonel Gibson,” Hicks told the House Oversight Committee in hearings today, “He said, ‘This is the first time in my career that a diplomat has more balls than somebody in the military.’”"

This might be considered a stand down too.

Whistle-blower: Botched talking points hurt FBI probe of Benghazi attack

"Another whistle-blower questioned Wednesday why more military assets were not deployed sooner during the Benghazi terror attack. Mark Thompson, a former Marine and official with the State Department's Counterterrorism Bureau, said he was rebuffed by the White House when he asked for a specialized team -- known as a FEST team -- to be deployed. This is a unit made of special operations personnel, diplomatic security, intelligence and other officers."

BENGAZI - Why Wasn't FEST Activated?

Here is a third way a "stand down" policy was implemented IMO.

Blow-by-Blow: How Obama & Hillary Left Americans to Die

"Nordstrom further testified in writing that Hillary Clinton waived security requirements for the Benghazi consulate despite high and critical threat levels in the six categories of security standards established under the Overseas Security Policy Board and the Secure Embassy Construction and Counterterrorism Act of 1999. The waiver can only be authorized by the Secretary of State, who cannot delegate that responsibility to someone else. ”If the Secretary of State did not waive these requirements, who did so by ordering occupancy of the facilities in Benghazi and Tripoli?” Nordstrom wrote."

Tell him to dig a little.. into to link the CNN report. They UPDATED their report, later... to included this:

For reasons unknown, the White House sent U.N. Ambassador Susan E. Rice on five Sunday shows with those talking points — and the rest is history. The talking points were so weak that Rice immediately raised suspicions that the administration was hiding something important. (She instantly earned Pinocchios.) She also repeatedly referenced the supposed impact of an anti-Islam video, which was never a part of the talking points.

Of course there were "stand down" orders... Panetta admitted as much at the time. The REASON that Rice told the lie is also obvious to anyone who cares to see the facts:

Obama was campaigning on Al Qaida being defeated. There was, NO WAY, he could have people knowing AQ had killed our Ambassador a few weeks before the election.

Tell him ROCKLOBSTER accuses him of being a communist traitor who is participating in a major foreign policy coverup.

It is not just a typical Obama/Hilary act of stupidity, but a deliberate treasonous act of supplying arms to the terrorists.

My read is that the Republicans, by failing to issue a minority report, have signed on to the Democrats analysis and conclusions.

I thought that the Republicans did have an appendix or something at the end of the report that really lays into Hillary?

A minority report takes more time and has more status than a condescending footnote or one of many appendices.
If you can find such a writing, I would like to read it.

Pointless to read this diatribe past “Republican jihad”. They’d never call abortion the “Democrats’ Holocaust”.
