It looks like the Kansas congressional delegation is moving to the right.
It won’t be easy. Kevin Yoder, Lynn Jenkins, Mike Pompeo and Tim Huelskamp, Republicans all, are already thought to comprise the most conservative delegation in the nation.
But observers from both parties said last week that the potential of tea party primary challenges, coupled with ambition and conviction, may have led the four to conclude it’s impossible to be too conservative in 2014 Kansas.
“That’s exactly what they think,” said Bob Beatty, political science professor at Washburn University in Topeka. “In Kansas, there’s less and less fighting between moderates and conservatives. Now it’s between conservatives and other conservatives.”
That dynamic has been evident for months on the Senate side, where incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts is responding to tea party challenger Milton Wolf with increasingly conservative statements and votes.
But over the last 10 days of January, conservative state Sen. Steve Fitzgerald of Leavenworth said he would challenge Jenkins in the 2nd District Republican primary, in and around Topeka. And former U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt, also a fixture on the party’s right, refused to rule out a GOP primary challenge to Pompeo in the 4th District in Wichita.

I will vote for both Wolf and Fitzgerald in the primary and will lend them other support. Roberts and Jenkins will get my vote if they survive the primary, but they do not have my endorsement and they need to be told that Kansas Conservatives do not want someone in Washington who pays lip service to conservative principles while embracing the Republican leadership bent on acting like mini Democrats.
I guess the Democrats can’t move too far to the left either from what I’m seeing these days.

I do love my state. Wish that Johnson, Wyandotte, and Douglas counties were more conservative. sigh. At least we got rid of Owens.
Hmmm.... I wonder how many articles the Red Star has published bemoaning the extreme leftwardness of Massachusetts’ all-demoncrap delegation. Which I believe fell from 12-0 to 11-0 after redistricting.
I stopped buying and reading “The Red Star”. Or “The Falling Star” back in 2008. I am surprised they are still publishing the commie paper.
That “persistent pull toward the right” is an anchor line, not a tug boat.

Libs should look at it from the science they claim to believe in. Objects at rest tend to stay that way until acted upon by a force. Large, massive objects like the political right wing (even those that may have forgotten it for a while) take a huge amount of force to redirect or set in motion.
But once set in motion, massive objects are damn hard to stop. Like say, a wrecking ball. They tend to blow right through the thing they are set against.
It just took enough pain to make people forget their fear. Not that they all have yet. But pain is a good reminder. It clears the mind. Focuses a person. And the libs are intent to inflict as much as they can before the wrecking ball hits.
It will just hit them harder. We really should thank them.
The Kansas City Star is just another McClatchy rag fast on it’s way to becoming a weekly coupon clipper.
Let’s hope much of the Midwest (and beyond?) turns as deeply (Republican) red as Kansas seems to be.
One advantage that Kansas has over many other conservative regions is that they have always been Republican since Free State days when the Democrats were sending people across the river to stuff the ballot boxes in Kickapoo (sound familiar).
Therefore, among the great conservative middle class, they don’t have a family tradition of voting Democrat. It’s a hard habit to break, as the South has demonstrated. But, Kansas is pointing the way for the upper midwest and our conservative friends in Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, and Minnesota have reason for hope.
We need the same thing in Oklahoma. The rats are trying stealth maneuvers to make that the next Colorado.
It is indeed. My grandparents were lifelong Dems. Upstate NY. Their core values and beliefs were 100% hardcore right wing conservative. But they always voted for the Dem because they always voted for the Dem. I never understood it.
Finlay, my grandmother woke up and Voted against that human garbage in her last years. Once she felt enough pain, her eyes were opened. She wasn’t dumb. Just largely apolitical all her life. And that “We always” mentality is as you say, held by many.
I often come away wondering about some of the minds that are out there.
Too Conservative... really?
Can someone tell me how you can observe the U. S. Constitution too stridently?
What would be the downside of that?
How much could it cost us to be fiscally and politically responsible?
How much could it cost us as a nation if we treated our citizens the way our Constitution says they should be treated?
Oh the horrors of me being able to speak my mind like the Left loves to do, without my government taking legal action.
Oh the horrors of me being able to fend off home invaders with my own weapons, when the police are ten minutes away.
Oh the horrors of my local and federal government officials being denied the right to knock down my front door and turn my home upside down on a whim. Of course that’s if they can actually get the address right, something we’ve seen proven over and over that they can do with certainty.
Oh the horrors of the poor being able to earn enough and keep it, to get off welfare.
Imagine a middle class that wasn’t having thousands of dollars stolen from them each year so it could be handed out to someone else.
How long has it been since Christians did anything to anyone in the village square? Imagine a society of people to do their best not to kill, lie, steal, rape, commit adultery, pillage, plunder, or treat their fellow man in any way other than by the golden rule. Sounds pretty scarey huh.
Christians don’t approve of homosexuality, but they don’t hate homosexuals. They don’t want to see them persecuted. They don’t want them harmed at all. Christians actually befriend homosexuals. They simply don’t want that lifestyle waved in front of children non-stop. How vile is that really?
Yes, being too Conservative scares the living daylights out of some people. So does going outside. For others, it’s facing life at all. There are psychologists out there to help people like this. Our friends on the Left heartily endorse their services. Folks on the right have God in their lives.
Too Conservative... really? If only society could evolve to this.

All anathema to the likes of Helling and Kraske. They are socialists and recognize that socialism requires that government create a dependent society, agreeable to governance by their intellectual and social superiors. Once all power and wealth are controlled by the liberal elites, then society will be perfect. For them at least.

They haven't had government deep enough in their wallets and they don't know they can be replaced by that person sleeping on a park bench.
