I just wanted to request some prayers for my dad who is dying of cancer. He is expected to pass this week. He's in his 60s and has been fighting this for about a year. It's hard to see him in these last moments, struggling to breathe and communicate.
I also feel so bad for my mom who is working hard to make him comfortable. Fortunately, there isn't much physical pain but I kind of wish he didn't know he's dying. I want this situation to be over, yet I don't want to see him go. Not like this. Anyway, any prayers for him, his soul and my mom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
I watched my dad die of cancer (stomach) too, so I can empathize with exactly what you’re experiencing. Just be there for him and your mom. It sometimes doesn’t seem like much, but it’s more than you know.

Praying for your dad, you and your family. I lost my husband and best friend to cancer 20 months ago. I know I will see him again but it helps to know that I was there for him when he needed me most. Spend every second you can with him, do your best to keep him out of pain and never give up until The Lord calls him home.
All pass from this world in some fashion. This world isn’t the end of the story. It couldn’t be the end of the story if we wanted it to be, and sometimes we pretend really hard. It is a zone of testing, proving, and for all willing, entry to a road of guaranteed reconciliation with God. When one is armed with that attitude, physical death only becomes another door and not something to pretend away at all.
Have you looked at C. S. Lewis’ book “The Problem Of Pain”? In this case there may not be much actual pain, but it is still a distressing scene. This is not a long book and could be read in a couple of evenings. It can be had at most mass booksellers like Books-A-Million.
I got one of these for my mother and she looks forward to using it every day.

The farewell is poignant... we can’t deny that... but for those who have accepted God’s deliverance, it is by no means forever.
Death (or at least cessation of life in its existing form) is a must in this mortal coil, to belabor the obvious. We’re handicapped here, by sin.
It’s because God DIDN’T want to send people to hell, that we have the scene we see here now. The devil can harass here, but for people who accept God’s deliverance, the devil will not conquer.
I’m praying for you, your dad and your family tonight.

We can understand a lot, if not everything. The bible lays the story out. Some people get tangled up with human takes on religion (quite often entailing some kind of bullying spirit) and get the bible story warped, but that’s not God’s fault.
Prayers for you all for some small comfort that you are spending this time with someone who understands and is sharing this time with you. Love him and bless the time, every second. Then understand that there is peace on that road and you will be there together someday.

Your post brought back a flurry of memories from last Fall when I asked for prayers for my father who, ultimately, passed from complications from a massive heart attack.
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
Take his hand and God will guide you and your family, awakening your spirits for their intended purpose for these moments.

I`m not very good with these posts. I just wanted to reach out and let you know I understand,, as we all do. My mom died of cancer, too young, and my dad is older not but very frail. I`m going out to Chicago to visit him next weekend; we`re going to watch the Olympics together.
