Outrage feels good. Why did we embrace the Cheerios ad and reject the Coke ad? Pretty much the same message,

Coke cares very much about protecting their SNAP profits.

Read the coments here and see how well their ad worked to subliminally paint anyone- Working people who resent going without real food so the government can give sodas and snacks to non-workers- who tries to stop SNAP for sodas as a racist...

Heck I gotta admire them, despite my disgust.

This bit of “non-news” news is part of the marketing by the ad agency. Same with the Cheerios commercial.

• Create up a nice ad with a little edge, a tease, a little morsel. This is the bait.

• Wait for the “fish” to bite. Harvest any anger over the commercials from social media (Twitter, Reddit, etc).

• Create tsk-tsk PR news releases to feed to the MSM. “Can you believe how hateful some people are about a family/singing/puppies/apple pie”. It does not matter that it is one whack-a-doodle in his Mom’s basement posting the hate.

• Local news runs the PR releases as a story, mentioning the product, but of course!

• These “news stories” feed back into social media sites, talk radio as call-in subject-bait, etc. Product is mentioned yet again. People go to YouTube to watch the commercials.

Now that’s what you call an ad buy worth its weight in gold. It’s all advertising. It’s not real. Don’t be played.

“Coca Cola supports abortion.”

Not only does the company support abortion, but their product is used as an abortifacient.

… that's idiotic. America is beautiful, and other countries know it — one would have an argument if it was our national anthem, but it's not.

Sorry. There was a time when we might have taken for granted that the commercial was paying tribute to our Beautiful America.

But those days are gone. I have watched the cultural leftists assault our American culture with multicultural attacks for too long now.

We have schools that don't allow displays of the American flag for fear of "offending" immigrants both legal and illegal.

We have a president who openly mocks the idea of American exceptionalism, which no American politician would dare have done 10 years ago.

We have a president who apologizes for our history, and who hung around with America haters like terrorist Bill Ayers and freaks like Eugene Wright.

We have too many politicians, educators, media personalities and illegal immigrants (and their enablers) demanding that they be granted amnesty, and calling us racists for wanting to preserve what is left of our own culture.

We have Supreme Court justices who go to foreign countries and advise them to look to the South African constitution as a model for structuring their governments, instead of the U.S. Constitution.

And we have judges and politicians who think that "International Law" should trump our Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land.

We have to press "1" for English, and we have multicultural linguistic ghettos across our land where English is not spoken at all.

And we have product sellers who woo Mexican customers by openly praising the idea of American soil being taken over by Mexico.

If you choose to be willfully blind to the obvious intent of that Coca Cola ad on a day that pretty much is a major celebration of American culture, then maybe you need to rethink who is being idiotic here.

There are many things to get upset about these days—and perhaps this is not among the most important of them.

I admit that I found this silly rendition of the National Anthem very annoying, though.

this is America—we speak English here!

To heck with spending all the money it costs to print material in any other language than English.

I’m not sure you should count it being possible to use the product as an abortion-implement — after all, you could use a 10-pound sledgehammer or circular-saw as well.

Huffington Post is reporting that Katharine Lee Bates was lesbian.

And the leftie trolls were breathlessly reporting that on the thread at Breitbart. They acted as though somehow it was a huge gotcha for conservatives to like something that a homo had written. When I pointed out that there was nothing but innuendo regarding her orientation and mostly who GAS they tended to get confused LOL.

“Can you imagine the distress of the millions of families that gathered together to watch the Super Bowl only to have to deal with the images of that gay couple with that child?”

How do viewers discern it was a “gay couple” versus two women and a child?

“this is America—we speak English here!”

I missed that!

Was there another commercial where they sang the Star Spangled Banner in a language besides English?

That is nauseating. I am really angry now!

Its a recipe for disaster

as opposed to getting upset about Abortion or taxes or the economy.

I agree. Personally, even when I listen to singing in Engilsh, I often ignore the lyrics and enjoy the music.

I think a lot of folks get romantic when it comes to various cultures and languages. And I will admit to liking to be exposed to those myself. Different foods are great, having been brought here and introduced to U.S. Citizens. This romantic notion is not what we’re addressing here.

In my locality there are many areas where English is not spoken. I’m not talking about a few first generation people. I am talking about people who have been here for twenty years plus.

How do we ever expect to keep our identity as a unified nation, if vast portions of our landscape is inhabited by people from other lands, who don’t care about being part of a unified U.S.

And while some of you will talk about them actually being productive, you don’t have the slightest idea what you are talking about. There are regions in this nation where the inhabitants are mostly takers. They get on government programs. They stay on them.

They live in big homes, drive new cars, wear expensive suits, have gold jewelery dripping off them, have a huge roll of bills in their pocket, and they get food stamps, medicare, medi-cal, supplemental income...

If you ask them for a co-pay, you get the dagger look from their eyes.

Folks, you’re living in a dream world where you think the U.S. is just the same as it ever was, if you’re not grasping what I’m talking about here.

Why is it important that we have a unified language? Take a look at the Balkin states. They fight viciously due to the inability to identify with each other. Is that what we want here? It’s what is being created here. Well scratch that, because in large part it HAS been created here.

Yes, each of us can point to places in the past where foreign language zones existed in localized places. In Southern California today, there are more zones like this, than there are zones where English is spoken on a regular basis. You can’t call literally hundreds of thousands of homes in Southern California and converse with the home owner, or the dweller.

In Los Angeles less than 50% of the adult males can function in remedial English well enough to function in a business setting.

So while some of you come here to defend this, the rest of us find it really strange how little you care to become knowledgeable to have a clue what is going on in your own nation.

The LA Unified School District has to deal with over 160 different languages. When our ballots go out, they are printed in at least five languages where I live.

You tell me, do you think people who can’t understand English have a full grasp of the political issues facing our nation? Do they understand that we are not racists, just because we don’t want to be over-run by tens of millions of foreign national illegals?

Do you find yourself wondering why Hispanics vote for the Democrats in large numbers? Could it be that they are being gamed by La Raza, MALDEF, and the myriad of other illegal alien supporting groups that speak their langage, and are safe in doing so, because these folks can’t hear the truth in English?

Yep, just waltz into these threads and act as if you are not a racist because you can’t grasp the issues surrounding this mess, and pride yourself that you aren’t a racist like everyone else who can. That’s going to strengthen our nation immensely.

I don’t much care about the super-bowl — at all. I didn’t watch it and usually consider it a waste of time, energy, and excitement/passion.

You’re right that there’s a lot of screwed up stuff in our society regarding patriotism/nationalism and legal/illegal — but that’s different than a single company making a commercial. (Note also that the Absolut Vodka ad you present is by another company altogether.)

Besides, I have my own opinion on how we could solve the immigration problem: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3117856/posts?page=102#102

Proving that there’s a bright side to everything, the news today that Coke (and other sugary soft drink consumers) are 3x as likely to die young due to heart attacks ...

So have a Coke and a smile and drink up, Libs!
