Former Russian figure skater Irina Rodnina was given the honor of lighting the Olympic flame at Sochi 2014′s Opening Ceremony on Friday, but she has started receiving attention for a racist photograph she tweeted last September.

Last weekend my son-in-law’s marine buddy (who is black as midnight) was over and had a fierce hang-over Sunday morning so I offered him various things, including a banana, to calm his stomach and hopefully make his head feel a bit better. Nobody even considered a racial aspect.

Racism is usually in the mind of the accuser rather than the heart of the accused.
