Rand Paul, visiting Dallas, says he’s considering White House bid

Sen. Rand Paul acknowledged Friday he is strongly considering a run for the White House, predicting that libertarian philosophies would revitalize the Republican Party and boost his potential bid.

“What the party needs is somebody who will invigorate the party and bring new people,” the Kentucky Republican said in an interview for Lone Star Politics, airing Sunday on KXAS-TV (NBC5). “African-Americans and Hispanics, Asian-Americans are going to look to the Republican Party, if we express ideas of freedom and liberty.”

Paul noted that he has a trip scheduled in April to New Hampshire, site of the first presidential primary, and he is widely expected to carry the libertarian standard once held by his father, former Rep. Ron Paul of Lake Jackson.

I will take a libertarian over any of the garbage the GOP has rolled out since H.W. Bush.

He isn’t a Libertarian. I suppose you could consider him a Republican with a Libertarian philosophy. Nothing at all wrong with that, IMO. We could seriously use that right about now.

“Sorry you don’t want to get on board for the only way out of this present B.S.”

Libertarians are NOT the answer to fixing our country. Ron Paul was a wackjob and Rand is the apple that didn’t fall far from the tree.

He WILL NOT get elected, but he could jeopardize any chance of a decent GOP candidate being elected if the fool run as a third party. Plus, IF Paul runs in the GOP primary he WILL really screw up ANY chance we have of getting a decent GOP nominee. His lunatic father helped mess up the 2012 primary. Too many young naïve voters will actually listen to fools like the Pauls.

The GOP obviously needs some litte “l” liberartianism, but NOT the Big “L” nonsense.

“I will take a libertarian over any of the garbage the GOP has rolled out since H.W. Bush.”

Well, both President G.H.W. Bush and President G.W. Bush made some mistakes, but I would ALWAYS take them again rather than a big “L” Libertarian like Rand Paul. I MISS President G.W. Bush almost as much as I miss President Reagan. I just President G.W. Bush had not been so much under the sway of Neocons. However, I would rather have neocons advising than isolationist idiots.

People often say “we cannot be the world’s policeman.” Well, it is true we cannot, for the entire world, but we often must (reluctantly) be so for the “high crime” areas....to stay with the metaphor. However, we do need to realize that we cannot spread a U.S.A. style of democracy everywhere...just stomp out dangers to our own.

“’Stay out of the Bushes’ anyone that misses W is not a conservative!”

That is absolute nonsense and a lie from Hell - and a silly slogan to boot. Anyone who would make such a general assertion (you for instance) should not call themselves a “conservative” because they give a bad name to those of us that really are.

I stand firmly, as a rock ribbed FULL conservative (Social, National Defense, & Fiscal matters) of the Ronald Reagan variety, that big “L” Libertarians like the Pauls are to be rejected, and that - even with their flaws - either President Bush is preferable to any Paul or other Libertarians.

BTW - This should NOT be construed as an endorsement of a Jeb Bush candidancy.

I am not familiar with Mike Pence. However, I don’t like Rand Paul even being a Senator, and I certainly don’t want him to be a “heartbeat” away from being POTUS. So, the answer is no.

Paul is pro gun, pro life, Constitutionalist all the way. I have no use for baby killers, gun grabbers and freedom haters like jeb an the other fatso from nj and ryan. And that little sweater vest twink from PA.

Paul also had a visit with George P. Bush....

DALLAS — Sen. Rand Paul on Friday met with George P. Bush, a rising star in Texas GOP
politics, to discuss how to broaden the Republican Party’s appeal in diverse communities.

“Really I wanted to get advice from him, as much as anything, about how the party
grows in Texas and states with large Hispanic populations,” Paul (R-Ky.) told POLITICO
backstage after stumping for a state senate candidate here.

“Paul is pro gun, pro life, Constitutionalist all the way.”

As best I understand him, his view of the 2nd Amendment is correct. He is pro-life, but I don’t think it is for the right reason.

His LIBERTARIAN view of the COTUS is screwy...and NOT it line with the original intent of the founders. So, he is NOT a constitutionalist....he is a Libertarian whack job. The Libertarian view of the Constitution is NOT conservative.

Regarding Gov. Christie....I fully agree he is less than worthless. I don’t know about Jeb Bush (however - I don’t endorse him for POTUS). Santorum is OK and a solid social conservative. I don’t know if Santorum should be POTUS, but I do know he should not be slandered as you have done.

Your disclaimer voids the first sentence.

I admire the Bushes as honest, patriotic, and admirable men. Their policies, however. were disastrous -- they did little but spend more and increase the size of government while decreasing our liberties [something they don't think much about].

You should really think about this.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...
