Rally not your average campaign stop (Cornyn and Rove to campaign together on Sunday)
Longview News Journal ^ | 2/13/14 | Amy Pearson

One incumbent U.S. senator has decided to campaign a little differently before the Republican Party primary this year.

He’s still shaking hands, making speeches and raising funds, of course, but he’ll also be grooving to the beat of hometown country crooner Neal McCoy at a rally and concert from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Maude Cobb Convention Center.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, “wanted a fun, affordable opportunity for a lot more people to participate in the election process,” said Longview physician John R. Coppedge, treasurer of the Texas Bipartisan Justice Committee, one group supporting Cornyn’s re-election campaign.

Cornyn, who has served since 2002, is the Senate Minority Whip. He faces seven challengers in the March 4 primary. “He wanted to come (to Longview) and he wanted to campaign,” Coppedge said. “This is going to be a good way to do it and raise awareness about the election.”

While voter registration for the primary has passed, supporters can still come out and enjoy an afternoon of music, soft drinks and snacks.

During an intermission between McCoy’s sets, Karl Rove, senior adviser and deputy chief of staff during part of the George W. Bush administration, will give a speech in support of Cornyn.

Don’t think the Fire Marshall will be needing to limit attendance.....

McCoy just slipped several notches IMHO.

LBJ used to buy Mexican votes in San Antonio with free tamales and Lone Star beer...much cheaper and more effective than hiring Rove.

There is a “moderate” Longview Republican running for agriculture commissioner too, former state Rep. Tommy Merritt. He plans to replace Todd Staples.

Cornball’s middle initial is “I”, but I can’t find what that stands for.

Stockman should go to Longview and bust up the party. He could get national attention that way if he proved clever enough.

Cornyn will be reelected by a landslide. His Primary challenger will be lucky to get 30%

You understand how stand-pat Texas Republican primary voters are. Nearly every Cornball voter is also for George P.

There are an awful lot of Republican constituents out there that are naturally disposed to conservative ideals.

However, not all of them are ideologically active enough to sift through mainstream media lies and time-honored deception ploys by RINOs (e.g., show votes are difficult to detail and explain correctly on a widespread consistent basis).

When everybody you know (Dems, Media and RINOs) is lying to you, it is sometimes difficult to get the truth. It takes the finality of realizing we have been substantively betrayed by our erstwhile champions.

Merritt though has only 410 Wikipedia hits in the last 30 days; people outside of Longview may not recognize him.

John Cornyn - DEMOCRAT

Fixed it, as he votes he should be known. If you side with Obama and Harry Reid you are no different from them.
