In 2006, WSG President Christie Whitman agreed to co-chair the Clean and Safe Energy Coalition (CASEnergy Coalition), along with Patrick Moore, one of the co-founders of Greenpeace. The coalition, which is funded by the Nuclear Energy Institute, is designed to lead a public dialogue on the role that nuclear power should have in meeting our nation’s future electricity needs, which are projected to increase by about 25% by 2034. The coalition aims to educate people on the basic facts of nuclear power and to make sure policymakers have the necessary tools to make informed decisions about our country’s energy future.
