As millions of moms consider digging into pocketbooks for Girl Scout cookies this year, they may be interested to know about the hiring of Krista Kokjohn-Poehler in the Girl Scouts executive office in New York City.
Kokjohn-Poehler is an out lesbian married to a woman named Ashley Kokjohn. And, given her sexual preference, it may strike some as odd that her job title is "Girl Experience Officer."
Her hiring five months ago was largely missed by the coterie of Girl Scout critics around the country who make the claim that the Girl Scouts have drifted leftward in the past 20 years.
San Diego Magazine featured Kokjohn-Poehler’s 2007 commitment ceremony: “Like many of the best love stories, this one began with a beautiful friendship. Krista Poehler and Ashley Kokjohn were immediately drawn to each other when they met in college, and spent countless hours discussing family, life goals and much more.”
“The brides were radiant in formal white gowns; their parents wore black, and the bridesmaids wore taupe. The couple exchanged matching diamond eternity bands an dread vows they wrote themselves, then their parents joined the bridal party and surrounded them in a ‘circle of love.’” Ashley called it beautiful, spiritual and perfect.

I agree with much of what you are saying. Girl Scout troop leaders control the activities of Girl Scouts in their Troop and the material presented to them. We have some very conservative Girl Scout troops in my area. They’re conservative solely because of the leaders, who don’t involve the girls in questionable literature or activities.

If the answer to any of the above is “YES”, are you just a bully in a tony coat that picks on little girls who are trying to raise some money for their club activities because they are an easy target.

Skimming the first sentence, I can tell you that it is not, in my mind, a good reason to drop all standards, to take on, in other words, a value system of relativism just because there’s no way to get around it
The operative word in the topic is Girl. Girl Scouts
Formation of girls is the job at hand. To rationalize their use in this child labor is not a good place to go
Little flowers brings them from 6 to 12 years old. There are lessons, crafts and field trips
We have a local denominational girls group that takes them through HS
Both groups independent of each other collect about $40 per year for supplies and mothers donate the rest as necessary, like$20 per year
The mothers stay for the meetings if they want. There are no secrets and nothing said in formation lessons that is offensive to any decent person
Raising $400 or even $40 per year by necessitating labor from the girls is not reasonable
No girls group needs hundreds of dollars

Planned parenthood is pleased. A field trip to a local franchise would be good. It would let the girls know what you all are supporting
