Now Skeeter we don’t want no trouble here. :-)

I don’t know why but, after watching movies I always wanted to say that.

Anti-smoking groups don’t give a crap who dies or from what. It’s all a money making scam by alphabet soup groups who make money off of MSA legal settlements and state cigarette taxes and funding from big pharmaceutical companies selling Worthless nicotine replacement gums and patches. Imagine if you sold a product that failed 95% of the time. You would be out of business.

In the crony capitalist government world if you have the right lobbyist they will sell your worthless product To the government and claim that it will solve all of your problems and reduce healthcare expenses for Medicare and Medicaid gubmint programs.

Of course, their real goal is to get more taxpayer funding and grant money to pay for the lease on their Audi A7 and their ski chalet in Aspen.

Like every central planning Politburo authoritarian regime in history, they never accounted for unintended consequences or human brilliance and innovation. They never saw electronic cigarettes coming.

It’s their Waterloo.

When you threatened an effete liberals leather seats and Harman Cardin sound system with innovation, well you better expect him to come out swinging and defend his turf :-)

Like the 97% of global warming scientists… do You expect them to get a job as an adjunct professor at a community college for $2500 a semester do you?

The government gravy train is where the money is. They stealthily teach Croney capitalism in Harvard business school.

The whole thing is so sleazy and disgusting, just trust me and stay out of the cesspool and the truth.

You are 100% right. Who would be opposed to limiting nicotine to adults? 15 year olds can’t walk in to a liquor store and buy peppermint Schnapps. 16 year olds can’t lose their life savings in Vegas.

You would be shocked.

American Cancer Society Opposes Banning the Sale of Electronic Cigarettes to Minors

In 2013, everyone is sensible enough to believe that the sale of e-cigarettes to minors should be prohibited.

Most public health advocates agree.

The tobacco companies agree.

Even the electronic cigarette companies agree.

However, there is apparently one group that believes e-cigarettes should continue to be available to minors and which opposes the ban on the sale of e-cigarettes to youth:

The American Cancer Society.

The Rest of the Story

As reported by Dr. Carl Phillips over at his tobacco harm reduction blog, the American Cancer Society is leading the fight to prevent the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors. Dr. Phillips cites testimony given by the American Cancer Society in opposition to a provision in state legislation in Rhode Island that would have prevented the sale of electronic cigarettes to youth under 18 years of age.

An excerpt of the ACS testimony follows:

“Good afternoon, Chairman. I’m Susan Roberts. I am the State Director of Governmental Relations and Advocacy for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. And again, I want to reiterate what my former colleague testified to, that we really appreciate that the chairman has taken a look at protecting our youth here in Rhode Island. We do have some concerns about this bill, and we also recognize that you realize that this bill has an identity crisis. It looks like a Trojan horse to us. I mean, it is coming to us saying that it’s protecting youth, and, in fact, what it’s really doing is circumventing some things we didn’t really get into a little bit today: FDA regulation of these products. ... So that is of great concern because right now, FDA is looking at these products to figure out how safe and effective they really are, and we want to wait. ... It’s essential that we wait until we get guidance from FDA before we even put in any kind of ban for the products for youth.”

So let’s get this straight. We need to wait before we protect youth from electronic cigarettes. We have to wait before we ban the sale of these products to minors. The ACS, in other words, wants - for the time-being - for electronic cigarettes to remain freely available to youth.

So why is the ACS one of the only groups in the nation to oppose banning the sale of e-cigarettes to minors?

I can think of no better answer than the one Dr. Phillips offers: “This really leaves only one apparent explanation that we can think of for the policy of trying to stop states from banning e-cigarette sales to minors: The American Cancer Society and their allies prefer that more children use e-cigarettes because that would look bad for e-cigarettes. It is fairly clear that their political faction is trying to bring about a ban or similar crippling restrictions on adult access to e-cigarettes.”

So the rest of the story is, that as Dr. Phillips puts it: “It might sound over-the-top to suggest that ACS et al. would sacrifice the children in pursuit of their real goals, but I have not thought of or heard any other explanation for the behavior that has been observed.”

By trying to reduce access to reduced harm products that save lives, it is actually you and these statist dems who are pimping death.

Ahhhh there’s the rub... “reduced harm”. No evidence as of today that there is “reduced harm”. Yes people switching from cigarettes to e-cigs likely will have better outcomes.

But what about children who pick up a fruit flavored e-cig at the mall, and listen to the glamorous TV ad telling them how kewl they will be when they vape? Will they switch to cigarettes for a better kick? Will e-cigs be the gateway??

I don’t know. But till the evidence comes in...sorry, kids win in my book.

The initial start up costs are high. You need to buy a kit a charger cartridges, hardware. $40. Unless they are buying the $10 garbage sold in 7-11. Which is illegal for underage people to buy. Then, even if they take a liking to nicotine it’s hard to imagine somebody who is used to peach pineapple suddenly switching to inhale carbon monoxide.

But seriously, come on. This is an adult product for adult smokers to switch to. If we banned everything for adults because kids might do it, where does it stop?

Yet, this same party MANDATES teaching gay sex to pre-pubescent children! I am beginning to seriously wonder if they are so dimented that this would be a tacit admission that they have secret fantasies that I won’t mention here...

“I honestly think they would still be trying to ban them if the vapor contained nothing but vitamins and was found by science to be healthy.”

I have a Republican friend that posted on FB his desire to “ban e-cigs everywhere that cigarettes are banned.” When I asked “Why?” he responded with the fact that the vapor contains some nasty sounding chemical compounds. He named one in particular, but I am too busy to look it up right now for this post, anyway, when I did a quick search for that “dangerous chemical” I found that it is actually contained in any foods we eat and is even contained in vaccinations....

My final response to him was that given the health benefits from exposure to this “chemical,” that we ought to MANDATE that everyone use e-cigs. From then on it has been nothing but the sound of crickets....

Your friend was probably talking about propylene glycol which is used in toothpaste shampoo. Or he could’ve been mistakingly talking about diethylene glycol which was found in Trace amounts in one of 25 cartridges tested by the FDA four years ago. The unwashed masses And low information voters who get their news from “the view” get the two confused. I got a D in chemistry in 10th grade but even I know the difference. One is used in anti-freeze, the bad stuff, and the other Is used in Aqua fresh toothpaste.

Vaporizers have propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin, water, nicotine, and flavoring.

Doesn’t really matter at this point, it’s all science by press release. The statist and left wing liberals know this. That’s why they plaster it allover the headlines. People read the headline.

Then they go on to Facebook and Yap, then pick up their kids from soccer practice and then watch a football game or a reality television show.
