You sound like Harry Reid calling the folks here with actual real life experiences liars because you don't agree that what has occurred to them has actually occurred.

That's not quite correct. To be fair, the disagreement seems to be over the cause, not the effect.

“fibromyalgia” is short for “inactivity”. Anytime you actually use your body instead of only moving about 20ft per day between when you wake and go back to sleep muscle soreness is to be expected.

ADHD is bogus. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t kids who exhibit the “symptoms” in question, just that those symptoms are due to parenting, not brain abnormalities.

See post 148. Some kids do have brain abnormalities that are very subtle and do not interfere with gross motor functioning per se, but do interfere with learning and attention and can be very frustrating, as they are independent of intelligence. A child may feel very burdened by mistakes or irregularities caused by incomplete brain circuitry, especially so when their overall intelligence is high.

I believe a large contributor to lack of focus and ADD-like symptoms in children are video games. I babysat for a neihbor woman a few weeks ago, and her two kids ages 7 (girl) and 9 (boy) completely immersed themselves in some sort of 3-dimensional day-glo world where you fly around and collect game points. I actually had to look away from it since it almost made me nauseated with the bright colors, overload of moving geometric shapes, and computer generated “music”. After a few hours of that, no wonder they can’t concentrate on things like math, spelling, or geography

Post #88 Ping. That's why you describe is very credible. Sensory overloading.

that’s totally untrue. My husband had it and he is THEE most active person I know. He never stops and is in incredible shape.

FM is due to mineral deficiency. When you’re deficient in minerals your adrenals get taxed and the body pain can be off the charts.

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to see your post about magnesium! I, too, had some anxiety issues, palpitations, shaking, involuntary eye movement. It was bad and came on overnight. I did so much reaearch it was crazy, and ended up with the same conclusion.....magnesium deficiency. Started taking powered Natural Calm magnesium every day and ALL the symptoms stopped immediately. I preach about it to everyone I know. I buy bottles for friends with all kinds of issues from migraines, to insomnia, to severe stomach issues and beyond. So many people are shocked to see their symptoms literally stop in their tracks. Magnesium needs to be in every single cell of our bodies and most people are deficient, It should be a daily regiment for everyone. It makes me so angry that doctors aren’t screaming about it from the rooftops for all their patients! PREACH IT!

Please inform me as to what physical tests are used to detect these abnormalities and how they show up on the given medical devices (e.g., brain imagery).

Frankly, some brain abnormalities are CAUSED by improper nurturing, so which came first: chicken or egg?

I’m a stay-at-home mom. I am sure that has been beneficial, and I’m sticking with it through high school.

Well I’m grateful that others get it! It is so important to understand the huge benefits of mag and so many people are suffering from things that they would not be suffering from but for mag.... Glad you’re feeling better!

ditto with alcohol

kids (and adults) who don’t get help with this very real disorder can find ways to self medicate- which compounds the problem and adds others such as depression

Let me first say to you that your posts on this thread have been uniformly personal, sneering and pompous. My money in on your not having any expertise in this area, such as a doctorate in neurochemistry.

And then let me point out that you obviously did not read the link in my post about brain abnormalities caused by general anesthesia before the age of two. What part does bad parenting possibly have to play in that scenario? Should they have let the child die?

I think you misunderstood me. I didn’t demean anyone. Many posters asserted that parents of kids who supposedly have ADHD need just to spank those kids. I have no problem with questioning the diagnosis of ADHD, or even of asserting such diagnosis is nonsense; I was objecting to the many posters who posited that the ADHD diagnosis exists only to serve lazy parents who don’t discipline their kids.

many people deny their kid has ADHD or ADD because they can focus obsessively on video games

ADHD brains are flooded constantly with stimuli that normal brains can tune out, and focus, so for the afflicted there is no “focusing” on math and spelling.

Corporal punishment? Might as well beat a palsy kid to make him try to walk

I’m a stay-at-home mom.

Then I think it's safe to say you're not projecting an intricate rationalization of some sort.

I dunno, what part of improper nurturing causes autism?

which is also skyrocketing? (and is now being researched as the possible result of prenatal exposure to toxins in our food, workplace and even atmosphere. Military families have a higher than normal rate of autism

ADHD is actually an autism spectrum disorder, according to our medical consultants. Lots of similarities in behaviors in some cases. Our son has both. ADHD meds are lifesavers.

To be fair, you totally discounted all but one cause, thus you are the one not "quite" correct.

You are correct. Do you imagine anesthesia is the only cause of brain abnormalities? Do you have a doctorate in neurochemistry? What is your claim to expertise in this field?
