Apparently she did not know the neighbor so would not have been able to identify him. Sad situation but I can guarantee you that anyone banging on my door late at night is going to find some lead somewhere in them.

Everyone on our cul de sac knows their neighbors and everything about them but when you live on a thru street it is likely most haven’t a clue as to who their neighbors are.

She said she ordered the man to leave, telling him she was armed and would shoot if he kept trying to come in.

that right there is very weird that he would keep coming...if someone says they are going to shoot me I would sober up real quick and quit moving forward.

BUT — If you are drunk enough to kick the door down, you are too drunk to know it’s the wrong house.

Here's a video of the two houses and an interview with a neighbor. I don't have
speakers hooked up so I can't hear the conversation but the two houses are distinctly
different. His has no gate at the front door the house he was trying to get into does.
Shrubbery at her house entrance and not at his. Intoxication messes up the mind.

If her house is in the county, and she shot him outside the county, then her house must be close to the county line. Wonder what county he was in when he was shot.

We had something like that happen in Northern Wisconsin. The Bus driver dropped off the intoxicated veteran at the wrong house. The vet couldn’t get inside, got even more numb, went “asleep” in the snow at -30 degrees and froze solid.
