Global warming to hit Asia hardest, warns new report on climate change
The Guardian UK ^ | March 22, 2014 | by Robin McKie

Flooding, famine and rising sea levels will put hundreds of millions at risk in one of the world's most vulnerable regions.

People in coastal regions of Asia, particularly those living in cities, could face some of the worst effects of global warming, climate experts will warn this week. Hundreds of millions of people are likely to lose their homes as flooding, famine and rising sea levels sweep the region, one of the most vulnerable on Earth to the impact of global warming, the UN states.

The report – Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability – makes it clear that for the first half of this century countries such as the UK will avoid the worst impacts of climate change, triggered by rising carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. By contrast, people living in developing countries in low latitudes, particularly those along the coast of Asia, will suffer the most, especially those living in crowded cities.

In addition, the report warns that cities also face particular problems. "Heat stress, extreme precipitation, inland and coastal flooding, as well as drought and water scarcity, pose risks in urban areas with risks amplified for those lacking essential infrastructure and services or living in exposed areas." The report adds that this latter forecast is made with very high confidence.

In addition, climate change will slow down economic growth, further erode food security and trigger new poverty traps, particularly "in urban areas and emerging hot spots of hunger," it is argued.

This combination make coastal Asian urban centres likely flashpoints for future conflict and hardship as the planet warms up this century. Acrid plumes of smoke – produced by forest fires triggered by drought and other factors –are already choking cities across south-east Asia. In future, this problem is likely to get worse, say scientists.

Just a thought here and not sure it has not occurred already, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there hasn’t been some news weenie who is positing that AGW is responsible for the Boeing 777 airliner disappearance.

With China and India being the worst polluters in the worlds...

Seems kinda fair.

Asia is the worst off, as usual, because their governments are abysmally corrupt. They make the south-of-the-border drug corruption look positively SWISS.

Asia didn't have the Christian influence to give it morality. Asian morality relies on two things: luck and money.
Now there's a harshness.

Those dry floods are the worst. Water swirling around your ankles, sneakers getting soaked...

“The first friggin time these dolts can get out of their homes from the snow piled up against their doors and they are at it again!”

Don’t forget that these are brilliant, intellectual,
really-really smart, Progressive geniuses who are going to save the world from knuckle-dragging, gun-loving,
petroleum-burning, bible-thumping, science-hating, Christian morons.

Ya’ know? See?

I just realized the reason Elvis sightings and I-had-an-alien baby stories have all disappeared. They’re out of fashion. It’s now all about global warming.

We now have almost twenty years of actual evidence to show how incredibly wrong the IPCC was when they released their 1995 predictions of global warming.

Every IPCC "scientician" who put out a prediction which as failed to come true should be put up against a wall and put down Deuteronomy 13 style.

Gawd, I’m sick of this crap, over and over and over again.

Here’s an example of GWBS (global warming bulls**t) from my own media consumption: I was driving around in NE, when a radio news propaganda item about global warming comes on. It stated that not only were the ocean levels rising, but that they were rising “four times as fast in the Boston area” as globally. Haha—that’s like saying that the water is higher on one side of the bathtub (allowing for differences in spherical geometry)!

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

I was wondering where global warming had gone. It is late in March and it is 4 degrees here in Minnesota. I could really use some of that warming about now. Plus, it is W’s fault.

Impossible. Global warming will hit women and children the hardest. Everyone knows that both are being rationed in the Asian world.

I just visited Asia last month. Last visit was 30 years ago. I have never seen so many fat people in Asia before. The infrastructure is 25 times better than 30 years ago. The unregulated raw capitalism is creating 5 times economic growth compared to old western countries. People look happier, healthier and well nourished compared to 30 years ago.

So the next time a hurricane hits Bangladesh it will be the fault of global warming climate change and the US rather than building homes for a hundred million people at an altitude of two feet above sea level.
