Bruce Braley on Chuck Grassley: A ‘farmer’ with no law degree
Politico ^ | March 25, 2014 | By EMILY SCHULTHEIS

Iowa Rep. Bruce Braley, a Democrat running for Senate, was caught on videotape disparaging fellow Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley as “a farmer from Iowa who never went to law school” — comments that later drew an apology from the candidate. The video, posted online Tuesday afternoon by GOP opposition research firm America Rising, shows Braley speaking to what the group described as a group of lawyers at a fundraiser in Texas.

“If you help me win this race, you may have someone with your background, your experience, your voice — someone who’s been literally fighting tort reform for 30 years in a visible and public way on the Senate Judiciary” Committee, said Braley, a trial lawyer by training who is running to replace Iowa Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin. “Or you might have a farmer from Iowa who never went to law school, never practiced law, serving as the next chair of the Senate Judiciary. Because if Democrats lose the majority, Chuck Grassley will be the next chair of the Senate Judiciary.”

Braley is the sole Democratic candidate in a race that could, as he alludes to in the video, help determine which party controls the Senate after November. He faces whoever emerges from a crowded Republican primary field that includes state Sen. Joni Ernst, businessman Mark Jacobs and former U.S. Attorney Matt Whitaker…

It’s a very strong possibility.

Businessman Mark Jacobs is attacting a lot of attention.

Braley’s a piece of sh!t. He was rude to my wife once. If we ever see him in person we’ll be competing with each other to see who can get at him first.

Well, since many of our founders were farmers with no law degree. That only means something to a worthless democrat with no respect for the Constitution that those farmers and non-lawyers crafted. For all of his patriotism and abilities, probably the best lawyer among the founders was John Adams and he was as some think, purposely kept as an ambassador to keep him away from writing the Constituting.

RAT admits he’s a whore for the trial lawyers. I just wish voters were smarter.

This attitude is common among all RATS, not just RAT lawyers.

Steve King and Grassley are two of the better members of the respective judiciary committees. Grassley is 80. Even if he had a law degree I don’t think it would be as relevant as all the informatin he has comprehended since.

Cornyn, Flake, Hatch and Graham need to be kicked off. Maybe if Jeff Sessions becomes leader he can kick them off and replace them with Vitter, Risch, Crapo and Enzi. Any of the 15 who voted not to proceed with the amnesty bill.

Not sure why it matters if Grassley has a law degree or not.
Constitution doesn't require one, and by my count, there's too many asshole lawyers in Congress and the White House!

A law degree isn't even required to be a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

There is only one constitutionally mentioned office that requires legal training or experience; that is for the position of Solicitor General.

C.J. Rhenquist was once interviewed by a reporter regarding a book Rhenquist had written. The reporter mistakenly stated that a law degree was required to be a Justice on the Supreme Court. Rhenquist corrected him by saying, "No, that's not true. The only position that required legal experience was the Solicitor General; and then it only requires that the person be "learned in the law", whatever that means."

It should pick up. Braley was the first speaker at the unveiling of the Norman Borlaug statue.

The leaders of both Iowa and the nation celebrated the legend of Norman Borlaug, Iowa’s native son, at a ceremony today intended to honor the man credited with saving a billion people from starvation.

Worse still, the failed lawyers who don’t get elected to public office get appointed to judgeships and stay until they die! Lawyers in political office are a major problem. In the UK, lawyers are proscribed from holding public office by law. Ought to be the same here.

Rep. Bruce Braley is the same guy who whined about not getting his “towel service” at the House gym during the shutdown last October, while American vets were locked out of the monuments.

He’s a spoiled elitist. He could learn something about hard work from the farmers.

Braley showed his true colors as a condescending lawyer who got caught on camera spouting off to a bunch of trial lawyers. He hopefully will not replace Tom Harkin in the Senate. Neither Braley or Harkin are worthy of respect. They are Obama sycophants and liberal to the core. Iowa is waking up. Grassley is a proud farmer with a lot of commonsense. His family lives nearby and they are true American patriots. Change is in the air and this development is a gift toward that end. Braley’s comments were on the local news tonight and will be repeated over and over and over.

I hope the GOP in Iowa has bought up a lot of TV time. They don’t even need to spend money producing ads. They can just run this over and over, the closer we get to the election, until every farmer and person in the state with relatives who farm have seen it a hundred times. What a moron.

Braley what a fighter!! He has dedicated his whole life to stopping tort reform. John Edwards was a fighter, too. He fought against the two Americas. They share a common cause-— themselves. Morons or phonies or just hippocrits. Sadly, yes.
