The Real Inflation Fear - US Food Prices Are Up 19% In 2014

We are sure the weather is to blame but what happens when pent-up demand (from a frosty east coast emerging from its hibernation) bumps up against a drought-stricken west coast unable to plant to meet that demand? The spot price (not futures speculation-driven) of US Foodstuffs is the best performing asset in 2014 - up a staggering 19%...

My friend just got a ton of cells for $.61 a watt. I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on a few thousand watts if I only end up storing them as I save up for the inverter and batteries.

Well seniors do have more medical needs. Kid don’t. So I’m not really sure what you expect life to be like.

There is one inescapable fact. Every senior that is sitting on wealth eventually dies and passes on that wealth to someone younger.

But many seniors are anything but wealthy.

I don’t think seniors are the problem. I think lowering the import tariffs with the result of offshoring our industries is the problem. If we were at full employment, we’d be able to afford care for our seniors.

Food is fungible available from a variety of sources around the world. So what if the left coast farmers are out-of-stock? At a price, food will always be available. The higher the price, the better the offerings. You want free food like free 0bamacare?

ZH’s chart shows declines through the beginning of this year... Why would it be “inflationary” only after January? Inflation is “always and everywhere a monetary event” so what changed monetarily since December particularly with QE ending and the tapering beginning? Or could it be exogenous events influencing prices?

Beef is up ridiculously high here (KC area). Last visit to the local store, half the ground beef was marked down because noone’s buying at the normal price.

‘Think soebarkah’s worried about food costs? Even with that beard he’s pulling, it’s just We the People picking up their slough.

He scoffs at us, and laughs, and savors his next opportunity to murder as many of us as he dares at any given time.

Our President.

God, have mercy.

The administration is happy. Inflation is their best friend. Their friends in the media can claim that the economic indicators are going up. They are not going up. The dollar is worth less, and so you need more of them for the same purchasing power.
The ruling elite doesn’t care. Their pay and pension is inflation-adjusted. Normal people suffer and they don’t care.

Food or agriculture used to be considered a military sensitive industry. You need to be able to feed an army.

Now we’re dependent on foreign nations for our food. And you’d don’t even know if the chicken is safe to eat or from China.

Wouldn’t doubt your analysis, even though you put the disclaimer in there... LOL.

Why because of the EBT card vendors know they better get it while they can! In the process ppl w/ cash pay the price.

Will Inflation Make A Comeback In 2014 When Consensus Worries About Deflation

"The Incrementum Inflation Signal started showing rising inflationary momentum after a period of 19 month of disinflation. Is Inflation making a comeback just as the consensus worries about deflation risk? "

“the elderly are the only group in this country doing pretty well, holding lots of wealth, yet we give them all the freebies on the backs of working 20 somethings with kids”

As far as social security goes, there are no “freebies”. People paid in their whole working lives. Granted, it was (shockingly, right?) mismanaged by the government, but that is not the fault of the people receiving it.

I agree with the person you’re replying to. “Seniors” are NOT a “problem”!
