Now that Obama is such a huge success, every state needs to immediately stop Free ER services.

One of the Obama-DNC cares selling points was the states costs of offering free Emergency Room Services.

No doubt the DNC will be fine with now removing those free services.

Right?

Took my wife to the ER on a weekend night. She dislocated her thumb in a fall. I paid the ER admission lady my $100 ER copay and she was upset with me. She didn't know what to do with it and had to hand me a hand written receipt. I did not want the endless slop of EOB's , bills, and other nonsense arriving in my mail.

Nobody pays the ER.

Whenever I have been to an ER I have paid the copay right then.

My daughter did three weeks ago when she hit the ER with a dog bite (work related)

Hospitals have to provide that care unless and until Congress repeals the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA). It’s a federal issue (not that it should be, but it is).

The last year or so, I’ve noticed hospitals and outpatient facilities demanding the copay up front before service is rendered. When I went to the ER 2 weeks ago, the copay was demanded after I was patched up, but before I left the hospital.

I’m wondering if it has something to do with Medicare. Maybe these facilities don’t trust Medicare to pay.

Obamacare has been, and is such a modern day success story, we the people do hereby grant to ourselves Amnesty from All Payments and funds necessary to provide Health Insurance or Healthcare for ALL OF OUR PUBLIC EMPLOYEES NATIONWIDE. So that they may also enjoy the wonderful benefits and success of the Affordable Care Act. Furthermore All Uninsured persons who receive “emergency Medical Treatment” shall be the sole responsibility of our Public Servants who are entrusted with ENFORCING THE LAW. Nothing in this Law shall prevent any Uninsured person from receiving treatment as necessary, just that our PUBLIC SERVANTS shall be Personally Responsible for all Payments.

I could be wrong, but I think ERs are required to take all comers, by federal law, even if the patient can’t (won’t?) pay. And we all know that everybody has to obey the law. Except 0bama and holder.

i wonder how many illegals go to the ER,get treated, then pull the same stunt they do at restaurants when the bill hits the table and the waiters walks off.

I don’t have a problem removing those free services. Insurance or cash on the barrelhead. Solves problems. Let’s get to repealing EMTALA!

I can answer that question. In 2012 it was estimated that there are 11.5 million illegals. So the answer is 11.5 million will be using the ER for free. Guess what, it will not change. The gravy train will continue rolling down the tracks, and the layabouts will continue to pile on. I like what Howie Carr says all the time, “if I ever get jammed up, I just want to be treated like an illegal alien.”

Obama also needs to be arrested if he dares to try to bail out his insurance company pals. According to what I heard today, ObamaCare is rolling in the bucks and it doesn’t need any more taxpayer dollars to survive. If Obama tries it, he should be arrested immediately!

I think you are confusing Medicare and Medicaid.

My wife works with the ER in her hospital in Mass. We are several years into Romneycare.

The part that everyone in the media seems to miss is that if all 7 million of these people are newly insured, there are still no more doctors to see them.

Wait times for a first visit with a primary care doctor in parts of Mass are upwards to 300 days.

Coming to a town near you.
