Dick Morris: Democrats Conspiring to Rig Electoral College, Law Passed in 9 States So Far
http://www.newsmax.com/Morris/morris-democrats-electoral-college/2014/04/15/id/565661/#sthash.4nEW7Y ^ | Tuesday, 15 Apr 2014 09:26 AM | Dick Morris

A plan, now stealthily making its way through state legislatures with astonishing speed, would junk the Electoral College and award the presidency to the winner of the popular vote.

The plan involves an Interstate Compact where states would commit to select electors pledged to vote for the national popular vote winner regardless of how their own state voted. When enough states pass this law, sufficient to cast 270 votes which is the majority of the Electoral College, it will take effect.

So far, nine states and the District of Columbia, casting 136 electoral votes, have joined. This is halfway to the 270 needed to put the compact into effect. The ratifying states are: Maryland, New Jersey, Illinois, Hawaii, Washington, Massachusetts, the District of Columbia, Vermont, California, and Rhode Island.

Both houses in New York have passed it and it's on Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s desk.

It has already passed in the House in Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Oregon. These states, plus New York, represent 107 votes. Combined with the others they are up to 242 votes. They need 270.

Who is pushing this?

All of those ratifying voted for Obama.

The movement is funded, in part, by the Center for Voting and Democracy, a George Soros-funded election group.

Watch them call a special session of the legislature and change the rule back.

Probably. There aren't enough Republicans in the legislature to stop that, and even if we manage to get a Republican governor this year (ha ha) they would probably be able to override his veto.

Dissolves the union under our Constitution.

Why?

Because, if nobody of the populace votes, and then Al Franken (D-MN) finds 1 vote in the trunk of a car, for Hillary Clinton, then all the states conspiring against our union and against our Constitution, agree that their electors MUST vote for Hillary?

Another example, and nobody of the populace votes, but then Mitch McConnell (R-KY) finds 1 vote in the trunk of a car, for ... Rand Paul(!!!) ..., then all the states conspiring against our union and against our Constitution, agree that their electors MUST vote for Rand Paul?

And all the states of the conspiracy, just plain go along with how their plans to ignore our Constitution, backfired?

While I understand what you are saying, we now know that we are dealing with an enormous number of selfish nimrods who only care about what they can pull from the trough. I doubt that Gore’s failures would have made any difference.

I’m okay with this as long as only far left states that never vote Republican anyways do it.
But no way should any red state do this.
Imagine all blue states giving their electors to a conservative that wins the popular vote.
All kidding aside though, this is clearly an attempt to undermine the whole process.
The left would run up the score in their liberal enclaves with even more cheating.
That way their fraudulent votes in Houston, Atlanta, etc. would carry the day by giving the rat the popular vote.
I have to wonder if the purple states really want to give up the status of being swing states and all the attention they get from that.
To get 270 they will need a few of them.
This is worth keeping an eye on.
And of course legitimate Constitutional challenges will be coming if they do get to the 270 mark.

Doesnt 140 electoral votes already reside with Kalefornia and NY in aggregate?

Under the current system and primarily due to the increasing Latino share of the electorate, the Democrats can get to 270 Electoral votes to claim the presidency by winning just 14 states won by Obama in 2012 plus the District of Columbia: CA (55), NY (29), FL (29), IL (20), PA (20), OH (18), MI (16), NJ (14), VA (13), WA (12), MA (11), MD (10), MN (10), WI (10), DC (3).
Obama also won electors in 12 other states: CO (9), CT (7), OR (7), NV (6),
IA (6), NM (5), ME (4), NH (4), RI (4), HI (3), DE (3), VT (3).

In some ways I wish Gore had won the EC, he would have bungled up our reaction after 9/11 so badly the Dems as a party would have been destroyed permanently by 2004....

Gore would be pushing for his umpteenth statue of Osama Bin Laden.

Those are all “blue wall” states (that have voted D for 6 or more consecutive POTUS elections) so makes little difference.

Nutjob Morris doesn't seem to pay attention to the fact that in states like California, the minority (that is, Republican) vote is bound to be depressed by the later hour and the fact that they don't have a chance to tip the Electoral votes for the state. New York state is also minority Republican.

Now they will, and that will enhance Republican turnout.

The Demwits are cutting their own throats with this. I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop, and figure that it involves reneging on complaince with the law when it doesn't go their way, thus triggering a crisis as they tried in 2000. Thanks Lucky9teen.

Morris may have been right but we will never know.

When the media “called” the elction in favor of Obama, many local election workers (primarily in urban centers) simply stoppped counting the votes and gave everything uncounted to Obama.

Notice how few reports there were (I don’t recall ANY) of workers staying late to finish the count?

“But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that they are.”

Given that I was dragged from my truck, slammed to the ground on my own ranch by a bunch of trespassing DEA agents (who were probably poaching elk, but later claimed to be chasing druggies) with all sorts of nasty black guns (as I have since learned), cuffed, and repeatedly told that “I was toast” and “better talk” -— before they left me -— dirty, bruised, and shaken -— on the side of my own ranch road -— AFTER they were unable to cook up a single charge on me (I guess they forgot their “drop drugs”).

My official complaints went nowhere. I was told they had “probable cause” and “reasonably feared for their safety.”

I’ve since put caltrops all over my ranch in places I know (together with official signs that say “do not enter severe tire danger” as told by my lawyer), a method that apparently worked, as I at least haven’t seen them.

Mob rule...that is what they are doing.

Whenever a liberal talks of anti-this or that, like bullying let’s say, look to them to be the one’s orchestrating the “sin” in the most grievous of ways.

Mob rule is nothing more than the majority bullying tactic. Once there is mob rule one can dispose of any minority opposition to anything and thus the individual loses representation.
