That would be unreasonable.
Plus, who better to give a free pass for committing a felony than a cop?

You can’t expect the police to fall under and obey the same laws they demand everyone else live under. You can’t expect that when they make honest mistakes, that they are treated with the same zero-tolerance rules-are-rules methods we treat peon citizens with.
We are better than common citizens. We get special treatment. We get “officer courtesies”. We get others to forgive our trespasses that we’d never let a simple citizen off the hook for.
