'Guys with Guns Dictate Policy'

Over the weekend, I spent a lot of time reading about the Bundy Ranch Saga, looking into the area in Nevada where the Bundys live, and asking Google a bunch of questions I wanted answers to.

While researching, I happened upon a press release from an environmental group, and decided to call the person listed as the "contact" person.

The leftist environmentalist and I had about a 45 minute conversation over the phone about the Bundy Ranch, Nevada, and the history of what has been happening there, from his perspective. It was a long time to be on the phone, and it was mainly due to him because, (and you out there who know people like this will understand,) he gave me a ton of hypotheticals to try to explain things to me, you know, because I don't "get it."

Thanks Jen, for sharing. Rest assured that there must be a whole bunch of us that "don't get it". The asshats diatribe is typical and there is NO changing their view of anything. But, then, they are SOOOOOO much smarter than the rest of us. LOL!

‘Guys with Guns Dictate Policy’

Yes, the Feral Government DOES have a lot of guns, and they DO employ those guns to dictate policy. This author is CORRECT!

Oh, wait... that’s not what the environmentalist she was talking to, meant?

Rational, self-professed peaceful and open people like the author describes having a conversation with, are EXACTLY like the totalitarian goons that became the Gestapo, the SS, the STASI, the KGB, et al. Mild mannered (in their eyes) ideologues with educations that bespeak of peaceful endeavors, but somehow always gravitating towards socialism, communism - totalitarianism.

It is only after they have progressed and consolidated their hegemony to the point they can exact their ‘final solution’ and graduate to blowing your brains out beside an open ditch or gassing you and tossing your carcass in an oven.

I’d say the best policy is to preemptively dispatch them and save the rebellion the cost of a trial, but that would be terroristic, so I shan’t.

Mao was right. Political power does grow out of the barrel of a gun.

That's why the Founding Fathers blessed us with a Second Amendment.

Slowly, ever slowly people may be learning that the so called “Environmental Protection” laws and “Environmentalism” is merely a pretext for achieving property transfer from those who presently own the property to those who don’t; i.e. to politicians, their buddies and potential voters.

“It’s striking how totalitarian the “sit-in” hippies have become. They used to protest government for being too powerful. But now, they think it’ll never be quite powerful enough until guns are taken away from the people.”

I grew up in the bay area and have some liberal friends that still long for the days of the hippies. When I point out to them that most of the old hippies are now big gov’t totalitarians they really can’t argue with it.

George Washington said, "Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."

In 1794 Washington, as President, personally led an army of 13,000 militia against armed protesters against the federal government's tax policies.

How analogous the Whiskey Rebellion is to the Sagebrush Rebellion is, of course, debatable.

“Power grows from the barrel of a gun”, as several Marxists have observed in the past.

Thank you! I kinda love it, too—since I’m one of the founders, and current president of the organization.

We’re not quite the NRA yet, but we’re heading towards 2000 members!

Everyone at SAS works as a volunteer. The only person we pay is our web master.

I sent some money back in the day and was a member when we still lived in FL. Keep up the excellent work. Haven’t been to the SAS website for a while. Guess I’ll have to look again.

Depends on what you call “hippies” for instance the last great Christian revival in America, and the religious right, and Calvary church all came largely from hippies, real hippies were not becoming PHDs and earning law degrees, or even involved in politics, and it was largely about getting back to the land, and going Galt.

I wonder if your friends are really longing for more politicized Yippies than gun owning hippies of the early Mother Earth News period.

Just curious, do you think a vest like that could stop a 175 FMJ at 2800 fps?

Or an F&N 5.7 at 3200 fps?

The answer is probably not.
