“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

I don’t understand why Bundy felt compelled to make these comments.

Perhaps because he is not a politician and therefore feels no need to be discrete lie to continue getting elected?

Would Dr. Carson, LTC Allen West, et al agree or disagree with Mr. Bundy? Perhaps someone should ask them.

They probably wouldn't use the non PC, and hence forbidden, words "Negros," or even "Colored People" (as in NAACP), and they would not likely suggest that slavery had any significant merits. But I'd bet that their views about the Democrat Plantation are not much different from Mr. Bundy's. Or mine.

Why pay a fee if the land never was turned over to the State when Nevada became officially a State. Federal Government took ownership so they could tax and control without the sale of the land by the State. The Feds have done this throughout the Southwest. They stole 83% of Nevada's land.

Everyone here on FR are declaring Clive to be ‘toast, dead,’, or otherwise persona non grata. If folks on FR give in so easily, or can be scared off by harsh language, then there really is no hope for America. I say give Hannity et al the finger, and start reloading. If Hannity realizes that he has lost his audience for caving so fast, then maybe others won’t be so quick to surrender. And anyway, who cares if they do?

The problem that I see with slavery discussion concerning Bundy is the following. Since none of us are actually eyewitness to slavery, we've inadvertently let Hollywood define the slavery experience for us. And although there is unrefutable evidence of the inhumane cruelty of slavery as evidenced by photos from that period, please note the following.

Thomas Jefferson was born into a slave-owning family and inherited the slaves at 11 when his father passed away. And while Jefferson was against slavery, he kept the slaves for their protection, blacks probably not having 2nd Amendment protections at a time when you didn't leave the house without a gun; the whole country was wild, wild west.

Regarding Bundy, I think that the bottom line is that liberals are using using the Hollywood slavery stereotype to attack Bundy and conservatives. After all, as noted by Bundy, I think that even slavery was arguably better than being in prison, a disproportionate percentage of blacks now in prison if I understand correctly.

A mistake? No one should get upset that he uses the term negro. He's an old guy living out in the middle of nowhere. There was a time when blacks demanded to be called negroes just as in the '60s they demanded to be called African Americans and then they demanded to be called blacks.
