SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) A bill that passed the Assembly with unanimous bipartisan support Thursday encourages California schools to teach students about the racial significance of Barack Obamas presidency.
The Assembly approved AB1912 with a 71-0 vote and no debate or discussion. It now heads to the state Senate.
The bill by Assemblyman Chris Holden, D-Pasadena, asks state education officials to include Obamas election in history and social studies standards laying out what students are expected to learn.
High school history students already learn about recent presidents. But Holden says lessons about Obama also should focus on what his election meant for racial equality and civil rights.

Instead, it looks like his racist "chip on my shoulder" attitude for getting even with whitey is going to set us back for a long time to come.
I had the same hope but Obama made racism cool again.
Lesson 1: He is not black. His Mother was white therefore making him a Mulatto.
So...they’re going to teach that a lot of blacks are racists? That’s what has been learned IMHO
Zero’s purported parents are not his actual parents.
Goebbels would approve.
He isn’t a black man.
He is Indonesian.
.
Obama!
Obama!
Obama!
I’m sure all the children of N. Korea are required to learn all about “Dear Leader” too.
the dangers of affirmative action?
“But Holden says lessons about Obama also should focus on what his election meant for racial equality and civil rights”
Sending racial equality and civil rights about 60 years backwards.
Barack Obama Mmmmmmm mmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm.......
Does that include questions about his real birthplace? About the legitimacy of his _residency?
lesson learned - affirmative action is a complete failure. and its product has set race relations back 50 years.
Unless and until his actual parentage is proved nothing is relevant or significant. This may become the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on civilization, bar none.
To act as if race relations haven’t improved since 1965 is a fallacy. Does racism still exist, of course. But most people I know have black friends, colleague and even spouses. OK, the first Obama election proved to me that America, at heart, isn’t a racist county. Unfortunately, there are many other black men (or women for that matter), who are far worthier of the presidency than he is. Are future presidential elections going to revolve around identity politics? If Hillary gets elected —she will be the first woman president—and if you disagree with Hillary are you a misogynist. Hey probably, some gay dude will stand for election—and if you don’t support him are you a homophobe? Obama has set back black folks by his policies.
So what IS the racial significance of his Presidency?
That there won’t be another halfrican American president for 100 years?
how much can we micro manage curricula in schools? Now we have to teach specific things about Obama being elected president?
what will get squeezed out to free up time to talk about the significance of Obama’s election????
What significance? That you can force feed America a sh*t sandwich and elect an empty suit to the top position in the land if you have a clever marketing campaign, enough brain dead stupid voters and the right skin color?
