Why Science Does Not Disprove God

But much more important than these conundrums is the persistent question of the fine-tuning of the parameters of the Universe: Why is our Universe so precisely tailor-made for the emergence of life? This question has never been answered satisfactorily, and I believe that it will never find a scientific solution. For the deeper we delve into the mysteries of physics and cosmology, the more the Universe appears to be intricate and incredibly complex. To explain the quantum-mechanical behavior of even one tiny particle requires pages and pages of extremely advanced mathematics. Why are even the tiniest particles of matter so unbelievably complicated? It appears that there is a vast, hidden “wisdom,” or structure, or a knotty blueprint for even the most simple-looking element of nature. And the situation becomes much more daunting as we expand our view to the entire cosmos.

Interesting quotes from celebrity scientists.

Is your point to illustrate obtuseness on their part?

Or do these these shallow and specious comments resonate with you?

I met Carl Sagan.

Nice guy.

Dead wrong.

it’s hard to imagine a first sentence more dripping with condescension, theological ignorance of the Godhead, and inconsistency (Given the deist sentiments he expresses in the second, he should realize that he is proposing that “every sparrow” falls under the constraints of natural law).

"A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion." Proverbs 18:2

Many times peoples opinions share much in common as when they assume.

Time didn’t exist before the big bang, so there is no time for god to make the universe in. No one created our universe ... Stephen Hawking
HTF does he know what and Who existed before the big bang? It just, happened ... something from nothing all by itself?

God is above proof. Science makes no attempt to prove/disprove God.

BINGO!

By definition, God must be.

We can deduce that he must exist outside and apart from our Universe. Why?

He's older than it. He predates it. He's larger than it, more powerful than it. He is not bound by Time.

The River (universe) cannot be higher than its Source (God).

Given the parameters above, how can we devise instrumentation that would directly measure God?

We can only use the instrumentation made of the stuff of the universe to measure the stuff OF the universe. Kinda hard to measure the Creator when He isn't bound within it to be measured, made of stuff which we CAN measure. ;)

FACEPALM on behalf of the revered Stephen Hawking. How could he have blown it sooo badly? (Because he's fallible.)

“When people ask me if a god created the universe, I tell them that the question itself makes no sense. Time didn’t exist before the big bang, so there is no time for god to make the universe in.

God existed before Time, independently of it. Hawking's fundamental assumption is that the Creator is BOUND by his own creation--the universe and time.

Wrong assumption. The Creator is not bound by Time, which is His own creation.

Again, the River (cosmos) cannot be higher than its Source (God).

By Hawking's OWN standard...he's not making sense.

Let's apply the same standard, shall we?

There was no time for the cosmos to spontaneously create itself, because Time didn't exist before the Cosmos would have tried to bang itself into self-existence.

Gotcha, Hawking. ;)

“God is above proof. Science makes no attempt to prove/disprove God.”

That may be true but many scientists have tried to disproved God.

The concept of ‘proof’ isn’t really relevant in this case since Science doesn’t work on proofs it works on evidence.

No you can’t. It’s a basic rule of logic that there’s always another possible path yet to be dis-proven. You prove what is, not what isn’t.

Sagan and Hawking are/were physicists. That’s their discipline and expertise. Not philosophy, not metaphysics, not theology. It would be like me holding forth on basketball or R&B: areas in which it might be fun to appear well-informed, but in which I have no knowledge or expertise. Outside their expertise, Sagan and Hawking have no credibility and therefore nothing of interest to say.

Would a masterpiece painting in front of you constitute evidence for a painter?

Or would you try to figure out what “natural processes” occurred to produce the painting?

So you are saying I should not argue with you.

Ok.

I hadn’t been.

Not sure with whom you are arguing, but have come to realize who is the fool.

... there is no god. No one created our universe, and no one directs our fate. ... We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe ...

Hmm, no Creator, but a grand design. Uh, Mr. Hawking, I only have a public education, so help me out here - how can there be a design without a Designer???
