Democrats Abort Their Texas Takeover
redstate.com ^ | 4/30/14 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 04/30/2014 7:32:00 AM PDT by cotton1706

Thus ends the campaign of “Abortion Barbie” Wendy Davis. I told the Democrats they couldn’t run a gubernatorial campaign in Texas on pink shoes and children ripped limb from limb. But the Cult of Moloch is so strong with them, they were convinced their gods would help them.

No more.

Under investigation from the FBI; off the campaign trail for neck surgery; losing women to the white, male Republican; and not getting enough support from south state Hispanic voters, poor old Wendy Davis is collapsing. The Democratic Governors Association chair says winning Texas is not a priority. The money isn’t going to be flowing to Wendy like she thought.

The Davis campaign made a lot of early mistakes, including relying on a bunch of out of state twenty-somethings who hate Texas, the ROTC, shaved arm pits, and wholesomeness. They air dropped yankees into Texas, pissed off the Texas press, and behaved in rather staggeringly un-Texas like fashion (“where is the pulled pork barbecue,” is a party foul even in Austin).

A barrage of ludicrous emails filling up reporters’ inboxes, staffers expressing disdain for things like ROTC that Texans kind of like, and the candidate herself running away from the issue that made and defined her — abortion — mired her campaign in the suck of mud.

The tone deafness of her Battleground Texas crew, whose fundraising dollars she counted as her own, but from whose statements she tried to distance herself, did her no favors either. Battleground Texas is just an operation of angry young feminists from up north and beta males intent on making Texas safe for trial lawyers, ripping up children, and hipsters.

Davis’ campaign had so many things so wrong that it’s not a surprise this has happened.

Did she quit the race, or is this hyperbole from Erick Erickson?

I expect another nail in her campaign coffin was the BLM making noise about taking some Red River land and taking a Boy Scouts camp. This government is so run by far left democrats that any and all candiadtes on the democratic ticket in the west are going to be hurt, well expect those that live on a gerrymandered plantaion.

But it is also reality. He is commenting on this statement.

The DIMocRAT ghouls need to experience their Waterloo. LIBs/DIMs should never be given ANY power or authority. Their only value to society is to be consistent objects of unrelenting ridicule. Then, they are good for a laugh. DIMs/LIBs should spend their time the appropriate way: being entertained by shiney objects.

I don’t understand the pulled pork comment. Do Texans hate pulled pork or something?

I live in MA so I have no clue on that one. Maybe it’s popular there and it was elitests ridiculing southerners. Don’t know.

I’m not from Texas but I think there bbq = brisket and bbq is not an adjective either.

I could be wrong but I think I’m at least close.

Of course you can get pulled pork but I don’t think you can call it bbq.

We don’t hate pulled pork: we just don’t recognize it as legit BBQ.

The Boy Scouts own a 400 acre tract of land along the Red River known as Camp Perkins. That 170 acres of the land is now included in the BLM’s land management study and could be lost to their use.

Pulled pork and sweet tea are making inroads in Texas as people from other southern states move here. In North Carolina you can get a good argument going over western NC tomato based sauce, eastern state vinegar based sauce and God forbid, South Carolina mustard based sauce. In Texas our BBQ sauce tends to be spicy and we cook beef not pig so much. BBQ cook offs are frequent and very competitive. Don't get me started on chili..

"(“where is the pulled pork barbecue,” is a party foul even in Austin)."

Even the effete in the Travis County's DA office knows that real barbeque is beef and maybe a little chicken here and there.

It is funny that the argument has turned to BBQ instead of Abortion Barbies chances. We don’t consider jackass BBQ in Texas but I’d say this donkey is cooked.
