Posted on 05/06/2014 5:05:44 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just received a call from one of his friends in Florida. Gonzo (Barry Lee) has passed away, He was a long term member of FR and was proud to be with us at the March for Justice in 1998. He was a veteran and a patriot and has always been a loyal friend and will be greatly missed.

Prayers for his family and loved ones.

God bless.

We have a responsibility to do our best to pass on the conservative views in an appealing manner. “Just the facts folks!”.

Our lives are poorer for his loss, but surely the Heavenly realm is a richer place now, for his presence. I'll have long talks with him about his FR Homepage when we finally meet in Heaven.

So very sorry. RIP my friend.

My daughter got married in December 2000. For our father/daughter dance I wanted something really special. I wrote lyrics to the theme from TITANIC. Barry had a great voice, and offered to record the song for me. My daughter cried her eyes out as did many others. I held back tears pretty well but had to listen to it about a hundred times before the wedding to be able to handle it. She married a sailor and moved 1400 miles away.

I wrote a song for him -— KNOCKIN ON GONZO’S DOOR, to the tune of KNOCKIN ON HEAVEN’S DOOR. That was done to memorialize the time the Secret Service paid him a visit and thought he might be a potential threat to Bill Clinton.

We will be waiting for the CD to hit the airwaves. Before you record, let’s review the songs you want to do. “Knockin’ on Gonzo’s Door” will, of course, lead the way.

(Note: for those who have missed it, Gonzo plans to record a CD of parody songs.)
KNOCKIN’ ON HEAVEN’S DOOR (I hope this MIDI tracks okay...the original I can’t find)

Sometimes gonzo’s out of hand…as he’s trying to save our land
Just like other Freepers do…he knows what is and what’s not true

Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door
They know what their power’s for
Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door

The Secret service does its job…as they’re guarding The Traitor from a mob
They know that their job is crap…’cause he’s been treating them all just like a sap

Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door
They know what their power’s for
Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door

At about fourish they will come…gonzo called our great leader scum
Did they think that he made a threat…is that why his new pants are soaking wet

Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door
They know what their power’s for
Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door

(short musical interlude - pay attention)

Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door
They know what their power’s for
Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door

Willy’s worried all the time…’cause he’s leading a life of crime
“He is guilty” gonzo cried…gonzo don’t be an Arkanside

Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on gonzo’s door

Good grief I don’t come over to the site as I used to and now get two pings from you concerning deaths. Both gonzo and Jean S were long time freepers and will be sorely missed.

I found an obit for Gonzo that was printed in the Tampa Bay Times on June 2nd...

Barry Andrew LEE
Obituary

LEE, Barry Andrew 74, of Dover, passed away peacefully at home May 6, 2014. Barry was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on Jan. 21, 1940 to Alice and Clarence Lee then moved to the Mishawaka area in 1969 with his family. Barry started Bamar Plastics in 1978, a precision injection mold company located on Robinson Street in South Bend. Barry, an incredibly gifted engineer and businessman, had many successful inventions that solved problems for companies including Zenith, RCA & AT&T. Bamar has several employees that have been with the company for over 3 decades. Their dedication has seen the company through many hard times. Barry loved his staff as family. Barry loved cars. He attended the Indianapolis 500 almost every year with family and friends. He was a proud owner of several South Bend manufactured cars including Studebaker and Avanti. He was very interested in all types of technology. He was the first person on the block to install an 8’ satellite dish that received news feeds from all over the world. He was fascinated with radio and TV since he was a child. He took great interest and pride being able to figure out how things worked by taking household appliances apart and reassembling themand later building his own. Barry’s lifelong dream was to become a pilot. He achieved that dream by receiving his pilot’s license. He flew a single engine plane, a Cardinal. He enjoyed entertaining customers, friends and family by taking them on short trips. His interests included fishing, cooking, and a lifelong passion for music. He played guitar and loved to sing. Barry is survived by his sister, Betty Lee (Nightingale); his children and their spouses, David and Karen Lee, Carrie (Lee) and Terry Farmer, Marcia (Lee) and Gary Blackburn, Heather (Lee) and Jeff Meixel; and 10 grandchildren, Carmen Lee, Christopher Lee, Kevin Farmer, Kenny Farmer, Brian Blackburn, Alex Blackburn, Alaina Blackburn, Mallorie Meixel, Hannah Meixel and Gretta Meixel. He was preceded in death by both parents; his brother, Robert Lee; and sister, Nancy (Lee) Capps.
