This morning, Sgt. Shawn Farrell will arrive in the Hudson Valley and be formally escorted to his home in Accord.
Farrell died April 28 when forces attacked his unit with small arms fire in Nejrab District, Kapisa province, in Afghanistan.
He graduated in 2008 from Rondout Valley High School and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light) in Fort Drum, New York.
His body is set to arrive at Stewart International Airport around 10 a.m. Then, his family, members of the United States Military, members of the Accord and Kripplebush fire departments, the Ulster County Sheriff's Department, New York State Police, and Patriot Guard Riders will escort it to Accord for a private ceremony.
