Watch Charles Barkley refuse to apologize to San Antonio women
Chicago Tribune ^ | May 12, 2014

Charles Barkley, known as the "Round Mound of Rebound" during his playing days due to his ample bulk, poked fun at the "big ol' women" of San Antonio during an NBA telecast last week, calling the Texas city a place where "Victoria is definitely a secret."

And Sir Charles said Sunday night that he will not apologize.

"You know that I’m joking around," Barkely said (video above). "But if y’all waiting on me to apologize, hell gonna freeze over.”

Here is the clip from last week that landed Barkley in hot water

Never liked Barkley.
Thought he was a big mouth.
Sort of changed my opinion of him a little after this.

I admire him for not turning tail and apologizing.

You made up all the other stuff out whole cloth.

Love him or hate him, I think Charles Barkley is funny as hell. And I love that he's unapologetic when he shoots his mouth off.

Just for kicks, I found a bunch of Charles Barkley's memorable quotes and posted some of them here:

"I had to explain to my daughter why that skank Monica Lewinski has an hour special on HBO this weekend."

After retiring from basketball ... "I'm just what America needs -- another unemployed black man."

"It was so much fun in my day to go to the Boston Garden and they spit at you and throw things at you and talk about your mom. It sounds like dinner at Kenny Smith's house."

"Every time I think about changing a diaper, I run a little bit harder and a little bit faster to make sure I can afford a nanny until my daughter's old enough to take care of that herself."

"I heard Tonya Harding is calling herself the Charles Barkley of figure skating. I was going to sue her for defamation of character, but then I realized I have no character."

On the goal of the 1992 Olympic Dream Team when playing against Panama in the Tournament of the Americas ... "To get the Canal back."

"I can be bought. If they paid me enough, I'd work for the Klan."

When asked whether he graduated from Auburn University ... "No, but I have a couple people working for me who did."

"I don't mind skinny people making fun of me ... we all do that. But I don't want fat people making fun of me."

On North Carolina missing 22 of its last 23 shots in losing a game in the NCAA tournament ... "Stevie Wonder could make one of 23 shots."

"I'd never buy my girl a watch... she's already got a clock over the stove."

"Well, when I went off to college, the guys I used to hang with were pumping gas and voting Democrat. Today they're still pumping gas and voting Democrat. Guess the Democrats didn't do much for them."

After getting into an altercation with a player from Angola in the Olympics ... "Somebody hits me, I'm going to hit him back. Even if it does look like he hasn't eaten in a couple weeks. I thought he was going to pull a spear on me."

On his political platform when considering a run for the governor's office in Alabama ... "Have you heard of death row? Well, if I'm elected Governor, we'll have death WEEK. I'll kill all of those lazy bastards."

Tell me y'all didn't laugh at almost every one of these, folks. LOL.

Another view. Outside the context of Barkleys fat ass

As a fat bastard myself I truly love going to the buffets in SA so that I do not feel my personal body image is so bad. I call it Golden Corral therapy :)

Jeesus, this city set the bar for attendance of High school proms based on whether or not there was on site day care.

Let’s not BS the things that are here because Barkley’s an ass

Jeesus, once again the Muffin top rules here

Anyone who admires him for what he said so arrogantly about insulting the entire group of people from a major city whom he insulted for no other reason than to spew whatever disgusting thing that comes to his mind admires him for insulting an entire group.

What’s more is that his public refusal, and his tone in doing so, is so disgusting. He reminds me of a guy who would hit a girl.

You don’t like what I’m saying? Take some advice frothing here, get some thick skin.

You’re siding with a bully.

Do what your friend Charles does: when people don’t like your position, just say you don’t care.

But that doesn’t make what you’re doing a good thing.

Blech

You seem to be pretty good at the bullying thing yourself there, Skippy.

To: When do we get liberated?

It’s refreshing to see someone shoot off his mouth and at least be a man about it and not make lame apologies

I am not a bully.

I do defend my religion, Jesus, Constitution, my family, my honor, and the weak.

Maybe that’s why it is so blatant to me, as I watch around me, people completely unwilling and unable to do the same, when someone is just barking, like Barkley, any old insult and then defends it, like it’s free speech.

whom is he defending himself against? The women of a particular city.

I’d admire him if he defended the Constitution, his religion, his wife’s honor, if he had one, and the women of San Antonio against some insulting celebrity.

People are becoming so numbed.

Do you wear glasses, too?

Not that there would be anything wrong with that. Some of the nicest people I have ever known were plump females who wore glasses.

........totally agree! So sick of everyone asking for everyone to apologize!

As a member of the most put upon group in America (straight/white males), I think I can safely surmise for most of our group that we don’t give a damn what you say about us! Have at it! Knock yourself out! And, when you do, we won’t be asking for an apology. Indeed, most of us would probably never hear about what you said anyway because we are too busy working.

Now, that said, be careful that some guy somewhere might knock you on your ass, but he won’t ask you to apologize.
