Bergdahl release arrangement could threaten the safety of Americans, Republicans say

Amid jubilation Saturday over the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from captivity by the Taliban, senior Republicans on Capitol Hill said they were troubled by the means by which it was accomplished, which was a deal to release five Afghan detainees from the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Top Republicans on the Senate and House armed services committees went so far as to accuse President Obama of having broken the law, which requires the administration to notify Congress before any transfers from Guantanamo are carried out.

“Trading five senior Taliban leaders from detention in Guantanamo Bay for Bergdahl’s release may have consequences for the rest of our forces and all Americans. Our terrorist adversaries now have a strong incentive to capture Americans. That incentive will put our forces in Afghanistan and around the world at even greater risk,” House Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard P. McKeon (R-Calif.) and the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, James M. Inhofe (Okla.), said in a joint statement.

Thanks for the Twitter handle, I just read his story. Unbelievable. I was kind of on the fence before, but his battle buddy’s story clinches it—this guy is an unmitigated POS, and we need to find an even darker hole to drop him in, or just flat out execute him. Either way is fine with me.

Hey!

Maybe we could send Obama’s precious 36,000 Illegal immigrant prisoners back to Mexico and get our GI back from them?

He signed the law before he opposed it on Constitutional grounds and said he wouldn't follow it.
Oh, I get it.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said that the detainees transferred from Guantanamo to Qatar, where they are to stay for at least a year, “are hardened terrorists who have the blood of Americans and countless Afghans on their hands. I am eager to learn what precise steps are being taken to ensure that these vicious and violent Taliban extremists never return to the fight against the United States and our partners or engage in any activities that can threaten the prospects for peace and security in Afghanistan.”

McCain always the bright one...

Nevermind that he advocates arming terrorists and siding with the bosom buddies of al Qaeda. This is one month old rotten fish...

Thanks for the heads up.

Andrew McCarthy, the former federal prosecutor that prosecuted the blind sheik, has basically conceded that he thinks this was what was actually going on in Benghazi.

I always knew that was the original plan..because weeks prior to Benghazi occurring rumors were going around about a supposed release of the Sheikh but the State Department “Half ass” denied it, when Benghazi happened I knew exactly what happened..no one was supposed to die that night, it was supposed to be a kidnapping, then a trade, Obama would be declared a hero and win in a landslide..Obama wasn’t doing good in the polls and he needed something big, Im thinking Valerie Jarrett thought of the idea, after all, she is the REAL President..but when the other three brave men appeared trying to save Stevens the plan failed, and they let them all die

Stock up, prepare, prep, prep, prep.
This is not “the” catalyst but should be a gigantic red flag waving in your face that America is in serious, serious trouble. This administration works against America and with our enemies and our intelligence “agencies” are doing nothing but turning against us as well. Something big is coming our way and will NOT be to our advantage.
Remember, when this slime took over an “aide” was on record as saying they we’re there “to manage America’s decline”.
