I do not believe Obama is going to go quietly in the night. He just couldn't, wouldn't pass up such an opportunity to do something as devastatingly fundamental in the dismantling of our beloved Republic's most cherished, sacred principles. I believe he will go even beyond that. He just won't go without having fundamentally done something to change, weaken the United States of America in some catastrophic way.

I know this is a stupid question, but don't Constitutional Amendments have to be ratified by two-thirds majority of the states?

Or has Ubama removed that requirement?

“I am telling you — I am not making this up. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has announced the Senate Democrats are scheduling a vote on a constitutional amendment to give Congress the authority to regulate political speech because elected officials have decided they don’t like it when the citizenry has the temerity to criticize what they’ve done,” he added.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Does ANYONE here have any doubts NOW that we are suffering from a fascist movement, that America elected....twice??

Jonah Goldberg is RIGHT!

Now how do we rid ourselves of them , now that America knows who and what they are?

Does Cruz advize impeachment of Holder, Obama and others?

I googled Mr. Cruz’ phrase :

” I am telling you —I am not making this up. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has announced the Senate Democrats are scheduling a vote a constitutional amendment to give Congress the authority to regulate political speech because elected officials have decided they don’t like it when the citizenry has the temerity to criticize what they’ve done, “

It’s a disgrace the way the scum now infesting our country will trade our freedom for freebies and handouts. A lot of good people died for us to have that freedom. It didn’t belong to the freeloading bottom feeders to give it away.

They've already effectively taken our speech.

NO ONE HAS YET BEEN PUNISHED FOR THE IRS SCANDAL

That said, I'm sure most of the Senators voting for this will be re-elected. And look for the assmunches Stewart and Colbert sing the praises of this to their unthinking audiences...

The Constitution provides that an amendment may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures. None of the 27 amendments to the Constitution have been proposed by constitutional convention. The Congress proposes an amendment in the form of a joint resolution. Since the President does not have a constitutional role in the amendment process, the joint resolution does not go to the White House for signature or approval. The original document is forwarded directly to NARA’s Office of the Federal Register (OFR) for processing and publication. The OFR adds legislative history notes to the joint resolution and publishes it in slip law format. The OFR also assembles an information package for the States which includes formal “red-line” copies of the joint resolution, copies of the joint resolution in slip law format, and the statutory procedure for ratification under 1 U.S.C. 106b.

There are 27 amendments to the Constitution. Approximately 11,539 measures have been proposed to amend the Constitution from 1789 through January 2, 2013.

  --U.S. Senate, Statistics & Lists

And ten of those were passed immediately after the Constitution was ratified. Not much worry of this passing. The mere proposal of such an amendment could do grave harm to the Democrats (at least I can hope, can't I?).
