Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz hit back at what he saw as an unfair accusation from Democratic New York Sen. Chuck Schumer that Cruz would allow child pornography on the grounds that it qualifies as free speech, in a Senate Judiciary hearing.
I understand that in my absence, Sen. Schumer very kindly gave a lecture on civility and encouraged me to not go over the top, said Cruz.
He then in the same breath accused me of supporting child pornography, he continued, adding, so I appreciate that demonstration in senatorial restraint from the senior senator from New York.
Earlier in Tuesdays hearing, which was being held to discuss a constitutional amendment backed by Democrats to overturn the Citizens United ruling, Schumer had pondered the extent of Cruzs opposition to the amendment. Cruz and other Republicans oppose the amendment on the grounds that it infringes on free speech rights protected by the First Amendment.
Schumer called Cruzs stance over-the-top.
Are you against anti-child pornography laws? Schumer asked of Cruz, who was not present in the chamber at the time. Is he against anti-child pornography laws? Is he an absolutist? Schumer continued.
He and other Democrats at the hearing argued that limitations can be placed on free speech, such as with child pornography and shouting Fire! in a crowded theater.

Just once I’d like to see this kind of response:
“Yes, I heard what Senator Schumer said, and I must say it was remarkable, in that it was literally the stupidest thing I have ever heard. He’s either just dumb, mentally unstable, or utterly dishonest. Ask him which one it is. My suspicion is that he’s not really all that dumb or completely crazy, but just a lying pile of dung. Thank you for asking.”
No. The best response is that the Constitution says Congress shall make no law...” States do retain the right to regulate speech (subject to their constitutions), invented interpretations of the 14th notwithstanding.

Does he come out in the daylight?

Oh Yeh good one.
There’s one senator fighting back, at least.
I guess constantly being called a racist is getting old.
Lets move on to a new low.
A scum barge?
Schumer supports sodomy. Proudly.
Where was Chucky on the whole Roman Polanski deal? If I recall, several liberals came to his defense quickly. To me, that settled where liberals stood on pedophiles.
A scum tanker?
They got the headline. That’s all they need.

Incorporation isn’t invented. It was intended. States could not stop people from exercising Federally guaranteed rights.
It was invented - to the extent it exceeds the scope of protecting the freedmen. Harvard’s Paul Freund wrote the definitive treatment of the subject.
If they wanted to restrict it to freedmen they should have said so. There is no excuse along these lines.
Other than being charged with assault, what other things would happen to you if you kicked in the nuts, 2 or 3 times, besides being a parade?

Here’s a campaign law proposal:
forbid any broadcast network from carrying any news, ads, debates or any variety of messaging from any candidate about any race.
Let’s force people to read. :>)
