This Libertarian pizza deliverer could cost Republicans the Senate [North Carolina]

A bushy-eyebrowed pizza deliverer from Durham, N.C., might keep Republicans from winning the Senate.

Sean Haugh isn't a household name and probably never will be. But he's a libertarian candidate for Senate in North Carolina, and his name is on the ballot, and recent polls shows he's doing, well, not terrible. They also show that he siphons off votes from the Republican nominee. So Democrat Kay Hagan, one of the Senate's most vulnerable incumbents, potentially stands to benefit a lot from Haugh's candidacy.

Haugh’s central goal is to get onstage for debates.

This is straight out of the DNC's playbook. Fund a libertarian spoiler. See Robert Sarvis in 2013 VA governor race.

If the GOP-E would run conservatives, this wouldn't be an issue.

But that can't be discussed.

Spit.

Run candidates worth voting for and the opposition doesn’t matter. Blaming 3rd parties is ignoring the serious faults with the GOP.

Out of the DNC playbook but just more handringing to deter enthusiasm. I’m of the opinion it will be a smashing victory for us.

I certainly would have preferred Brannon to Tillis, but I don't think that's the point here.

I believe that the DNC would have recruited a libertarian to run even if Brannon had won the primary.

Recall that we just had the same scenario in the special election in Florida for Bill Young’s seat. The Dems had a strong, well financed, well known candidate...The libertarian candidate in the race was likeable and articulate...He ended up with HALF of what polls showed him with a week before...we still won.. Obamacare was the reason.and that’s why Hagan will lose....big

It’s up to the Republicans to ‘out’ him and disclose who backs him and WHY. Brutal honesty is welcomed and required now.

Would it matter if the GOP candidate was a strong conservative?

You can blame the 3rd party, but you still have to win the vote. If you can't do that, your candidate was unelectable.

Doesn’t North Carolina have a run-off to the general election if no candidate reaches 50%? Do I falsely remember certain key elections (1994?) waiting for weeks after the general election to find out how large the GOP gains were because NC had run-offs?

They better start voting for him in the polls, too, if they want him on stage for the debates.

Kay Hagan was a party line vote with Obama on the ticket.

She only has her own dirty liberal skirt to ride this time.
Kay “Obamacare” Hagan is not going to win.

no, it is wrong to vote socialist or communist, regardless of which party you belong to...

the pubs wanna run socialists and communists, then the vote rightfully should go to a third party candidate..

you would think after bushie 2, and mcromney that this would have sunk in, but alas..

this is the most important election in our lifetimes, we cannot vote third party or we give it to the dems, we as a party need to win regardless of who we have to vote for..

i have heard this crap most of my life, and look what it has gotten us..

NOWHERE BUT SOCIALIST/COMMUNIST LITE...

If liberals can set up a Libertarian to siphon votes from Republicans, then why can’t the GOP set up a radical liberal socialst type, to siphon votes from a Democrat? Why does this work in only one direction???
