D-Day-Plus-1 Radio Thread – June 7, 1944

New York Times page 1 photo on June 7, 1944
Archive.org has many recordings for the days following June 6. Most of todays recordings have time stamps like the ones yesterday. The final two dont and they are both from the same source NBC reporter George Hicks, broadcasting from the deck of the U.S.S. Ancon, a converted ocean liner that had previously seen service in the Mediterranean. The first short bite is partially included in the second longer one.

Today reporters are too busy extending “fairness” to the enemy to do any decent reporting.

Hey Homer I hear on SO CAL news they found recording from radio broadcast inside KNX 1070am radio archives they try clean it up for digial I hear some of it last night

I absolutely love the recording of Kate Smith, "the songbird of the South", born in Greenville, Virginia, reciting the Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Does anyone wonder why she was so popular in those days?
