Impeachment off, GOP fears it will rally Obama Democrats
Washington Examiner ^ | June 6, 2014 | Paul Bedard

Despite anger in many quarters of the nation over the president's prisoner swap, Republicans are backing off impeachment threats because they fear it would rally President Obama's Democratic base and kill the GOP's chances to win the Senate, according to congressional insiders and sources.

“150 days out from a general election is not a realistic time to begin such a solemn and Constitutionally important process,” said one advisor to House GOP leaders.

This is the correct route. There is absolutely no chance of Obama being impeached and removed from office as things stand currently.

If impeachment were attempted, it would backfire and give the Democrats solid majorities in both Houses in the upcoming elections.

However, this realistic view will be ridiculed by the ignoramuses who will see the Republicans as caving.

That's what I said yesterday.

It takes 2/3 of the Senators in attendance to actually get him removed. That makes it almost impossible...but who knows.

Well it won’t go anywhere. Why waste the time? I mean ZERO chance of even being impeached much less removed. The GOPe makes one mega error after the other but this would make their other ones pale in comparison if they tried this.

I don’t even understand why this is even part of the discussion.

I can go along with the logic (because over the past 5.5 years America has shown itself too damn stupid to get past the mainstream media). HOWEVER, they better damn well be making plans and getting all the paperwork in order, dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s (and that includes serious and legitimate investigations of voter fraud). Once wrestling control away from Reid (I believe we will hold if not gain in the House), literally the day after it is time to put things back in order and clean up the mess in D.C.

I don't either, but apparently it is with some folks. :(

They will put off impeachment and the people will instead start a revolt. People are very upset about this and a Congress as usual is only interested in job preservation. Throw them out too

...are we EVER going to fight these guys?

Retreat isn't a long term strategy.

He has committed impeachable offenses!

We need to do SOMETHING.

They're still smarting over the decision to impeach Clinton.

Republicans just don't understand public perception the way Democrats do.

Impeachment is possible only when the general public are already behind it.

Republicans need to build their case. It's difficult with the current media, but they've got to figure out how to take care of that, too.

The truth: Obama actually hopes the Republicans attempt to impeach him.

Apart from a smoking gun revealing the personal commission of an indisputably high crime, Obama will never be impeached, much less convicted. The Clinton impeachment process demonstrated that the procedure is not a legal but a political one and, to peel one more layer off the onion, political processes are conditioned by the culture.

The culture was conditioned by the media and the media was on a mission from God to install a liberal African-American in the White House. The media mounted a juggernaut during the election of 2008 to accomplish just that. In their rush neither the media nor the Democratic Party cared that they were not installing a liberal but in fact an African-American who was a communist. Skin pigment trumped everything.

Most of America was unaware of Obama's Communist affiliations in 2008 and remain unaware of them today. It was the job of the media to reveal those affiliations but they would not because they were committed to a "higher cause." The Republican opposition would not do so because they were thoroughly intimidated. Both institutions failed the nation.

The Republican failure has visited baleful consequences on the nation ever since. We conservatives on FreeRepublic were fully aware of Obama's radical biography and many of us declared in 2008 that the only way juggernaut could be stopped was to "morally destroy" Barack Obama by revealing him to be the communist he was and still is. Republican timidity resulted in two elections of Barack Obama and there is no reason to conclude that Republican timidity will not extend to occasions to impeach Barack Obama. Indeed, the Republicans have failed effectively to oppose even those policies most repugnant to Republican principles (assuming Rino establishment Republicans still have principles) because they continue to fear being branded racists merely for opposing Obama.

However much the media is becoming privately disenchanted with the man they put in the White House, especially with his personal deficiencies, they cannot and will not permit the presidency of the first African-American to be discredited. Obama is fully aware of this and knows that his best chance to save off a Republican sweep in November is to bait the Republicans into a battle with the media. Republicans are powerless to impeach Obama except in the most egregious circumstances and they know it.

When Senator McCain declined to expose Obama for in 2008, indeed when McCain affirmatively lauded candidate Obama as a fit person for the White House, he foreclosed all possibilities of exposing Obama for his radical, anti-constitutional, even anti-American convictions. After that, it became impossible to put the toothpaste back in the tube besides there was a general feeling that Obama's past was irrelevant, after all, the man has been elected.

This whole dismaying story is but one more example of Nathan Bedford's first Maxim of American politics: all politics in America is not local but ultimately racial.

Unless the Republican Party can find both the courage and the means to break free of the threat of being branded racist, nothing will happen to Obama, certainly not impeachment, amnesty for millions and millions of illegal aliens will remain inevitable, conservatism will ultimately be swamped under a demographic and a propaganda juggernaut.

The motto above Nathan Bedford's avatar enjoins us: "attack, repeat, attack!… Admiral Bull Halsey.

It will make Obama stronger. Just like Bill Clinton came out stronger immediately after his impeachment.

Well, mark me down as an ignoramus. My support for filing the Articles IS contingent upon ousting Boehner and making Allen West Speaker. Do that then full speed ahead. It is never wrong to do the next right thing.

How about Republicans stand up for America workers, for a change.

Bring back American jobs.

Just saying. The democrats aren’t doing squat. Stand up Republicans.

Now is your chance. China is challenging US supremacy, because China now makes a massive amount of what WE BUY.

(a whole heck of a lot more, than America makes of what China’s buys)

Bring back American manufacturing.

Excuse me. MOST AMERICANS loathe Obama and all he stands for. MOST OF THEM. Just because pop culture, MSM, and an education establishment dominated by minority leftists project the opposite image of what Americans think, doesn't mean it isn't as fake as a movie set.

Republicans afraid to impeach Obama for fear of rallying Obama Democrats -- said Democrats at most 45 percent of on-the-ground Americans, probably less -- are cowards AND dupes.

Risk is the price you pay for opportunity. These cowards don't have the heart or the confidence to risk that there are more of us than there are of "Obama Democrats," and therefore forfeit real opportunity to start turning things around in a better direction.

Far from a "realistic" view, the view these fearful Republicans take is that manipulated dupes.
