"Build the America you want to live in at your address, and keep looking up.- Sarah Palin"

It's the only way.

We can't let our happiness depend on who sits in the Oval Office.

This country is lost.

Long gone are the days of doing the right thing, for the sake of ....doing the right thing.

Unbelievable. No, scratch that, John Boehner is in charge in the House of Representatives.

Sarah is absolutely correct. With one minor addition: where you choose to have your address matters.

Take this as a lesson from us Jews.

Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas, they're just places, metal and stone.

When the walls come tumbling down, when you lose everything you have, you always have family. And your family always has tribe.

Thanks for the kind response. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you on this thread, but I had work to do.

I admit it’s a real quandary. In a general election, should I vote for a Democrat who openly works for everything I oppose, vote for a Republican (RINO) who works behind the scenes to thwart most of what I want—maybe occasionally tossing me a bone, vote for a third party candidate with essentially zero chance of winning, or not vote at all. None of these options seem very good to me. It’s no wonder that many millions of Americans have no interest in voting at all.

Believe me, it pains me greatly to vote for someone like McCain for president, but I did. I actually agree with your point that a RINO might actually do worse than a Democrat. McCain is a perfect example. He probably would have been able to enact far, far more liberal policies than Obama, simply because Republicans would have stood by their president and Democrats always vote for any expansion of government—even ones led by RINO Republican presidents.

It’s really a no win situation. That’s why primaries are so important. They are our only real chance to change things up with our votes. Once a RINO makes it to the general election, it comes down to each of us trying to decide which path will do the least damage to America, because damage will be done at that point.

“If you want more of it, YOU are the problem.”

Norm, I never wrote I wanted more of it. You’re right that you didn’t claim Democrats are better than RINOs. You think they’re basically the same. I disagree with that. The degree of “RINOship” varies from RINO to RINO, and most aren’t essentially Democrats in all but party affiliation (although there are some of those, too).

“However, your philosophy also gave us Romney and McCain, and reinforced the thought that such candidates really can’t win because liberal Republicans can’t out-Democrat the Democrats.”

I think you’re right. McCain and Romney had very little chance of winning. They were uninspiring candidates who lacked charisma and opposed the very things most conservatives (Americans) want. We have to defeat these RINOs in the primaries, BEFORE they advance. If a RINO makes it to the general election, we’ve lost. From there, it’s only a matter of trying to mitigate the degree of damage that will be done.

That’s what this thread is really all about. It’s not about whether or not Obama deserves impeachment. He does! It’s about what strategy does the least damage to America. The damage is going to be done either way, my FRiend. We’re simply arguing over damage control methodologies.

Treason by the person in the Presidency transcends politics.

A politician who doesn’t understand this is unfit for the job.

Your disagreement means nothing to anyone but yourself. You may as well disagree that water is wet because the facts show that RINOs actions mirror those of the Democrats. I am not retyping the list as we all know it by heart.

Do when one disagrees with reality, it is not reality that is in the wrong. I do not know or care what you hope to achieve by posting things that 2 min of searching easily disprove. But you are in fact, wrong.

Our electoral politics are a basket case. Better to not waste the time with it at all. I know that sounds depressing, but it really isn’t. Because once you start to look at things as they are and not as you wished them to be, options begin to present themselves.

One good option is contained in my tag line. There are others.

I found it really interesting that you brought up the experience of the Jews. One thing that has always struck me about secular Jews is that they made one very bright, self preserving move during the middle of the 20th century: they established a homeland. A place of refuge where Jews could be somewhat safe.

I often refer to the dispersion of conservatives across the country or world as a diaspora. Because the parallels are uncanny.

I guess we just disagree then. Perhaps you have a very short list of RINOs, but many people use that term to describe just about any Republican politician who doesn’t agree with the rank and file on every issue. Like I wrote, I think I have a more accurate view of reality in that I see varying degrees of RINOism. Some are indeed nearly identical to Democrats. Some are not. Again, it depends on what one defines as RINOism in the first place.

FReegards!

There is no ‘degree pf pregnancy’. One is or one is not. Same goes for RINO. One is or one is not. One supports a RINO or one does not.

If one supports a RINO, one is a RINO. The math is not complex. Actions are defining. It’s why mom always said you are the company you keep. Mom was correct.

Citizen, why would you ever want to vote FOR the Democrat?

Honestly, that you even consider it a "strategy" is ... revealing.

A vote is FOR something. You know this. What on earth would possess you to vote FOR a Democrat, i.e. something you know is wrong?

Your mistake truly is in buying into the emotional trap that really, your vote only counts if it's for one of the two major parties, otherwise it's "wasted," so your ONLY choice is between two very bad options. THAT is your mistake. It was mine, too. You have other choices, and they can be powerful choices. We have been trying to "hold steady" with leftist Republicans elected via this trap for decades. IT IS FAILING. Time to change tack NOW and start voting in terms of FOR.
