U.S. Embassy Prepares for Possible Evacuation as Militants Take Control in Iraq
The Blaze ^ | Wednesday, June 11, 2014 | Sara Carter

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is preparing contingency plans to evacuate its employees if necessary now that one of the deadliest Islamic militant groups in the region has taken control of large swaths of Iraq, a U.S. official told TheBlaze.

The State Department also warned U.S. citizens against traveling to Iraq, following several days of bloody clashes between insurgents with the Al Qaeda-inspired Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and Iraqi military forces. ISIL has taken control of Mosul, Tikrit and Fallujah and aims to create an Islamic state across the Iraq-Syria border.

The U.S. official told TheBlaze that the U.S. Embassy, United Nations and other foreign organizations with a presence in Iraq are “preparing contingency plans to evacuate employees.”

I’m sure glad the CIA and NSA were all over this genuine threat, and nipped it in the bud with covert ops, disinformation campaigns, and so on, and thereby both warned us and allowed us to prepare for it.

Once again, the CIA and NSA came through with timely advanced warnings of imminent major attacks by thousands of Al Queda jihadis!

Thank goodness we weren’t caught flat-footed and unaware!

With intel that good, I’m sure there is no risk at all of another 9-11, or worse.

Social engineering and nation building is not a conservative principal.

Trust me, these people in the Middle East should be treated like criminals and gangsters in the inner cities. Let them kill themselves and stay away.

The entire map of the Middle East was drawn up after the collapse Of the Ottoman Empire after World War I. It’s like gerrymandering a district and putting the bloods and Crips in the same territory and asking them to get along and play nice.

What do you expect from a nation that won’t even protect its own southern border?

At least Saddam kept the animals in line.

I was real naive back when we went in there...Now I realize that Saddam was just par for the course in that part of the world, just like Assad in Syria.

“It was all W’s fault.”

Obama had better leave some Americans there so he can trade the rest of the Gitmo detainees away.

Well we didn’t have to evacuate our Iraqian embassy when George W. Bush was President. Obama has screwed up Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Eqypt and given them over to terrorists.

Maybe Obama would care about this if they told him there are some campaign contributions for the Democrat Party there.

Screw that. they better start publicly begging for help, and they might want to think about asking Tehra first, given that Obama’s likely to spend the next 3-4 months considering whether to lob one or two missiles in the militants’ general direction. and what are we gonna look like anyways bombing the same people in Iraq that we’re sponsoring in Syria? the dilemmas of Obama foreign policy...

I so hope the rebels don’t hurt the museums. /s

Obama armed AQ with Libyan weapons depots—helped get Morsi to power in Egypt, helped against Assad in Syria, helped these rebels in Iraq.

Obama does nothing but buy time for Iran to complete building nuclear weapons.

Obama re-energizes the Taliban, giving them five generals back and giving them a propaganda coup on a silver platter.
Probably laundered a few million through the Haqqani network to boot.

Now, these Iraqi “rebels” have seized Mosul, Tikrit, a cache of American weaponry including helicopters and Humvees, looted the Bank of Iraq in Mosul of $429 million in gold and banknotes, and they have seized Iraq’s largest oil refinery.

Obama’s plan for the Caliphate proceed apace, and to hell with America.

FUBO.

The Iraqi Army is fleeing faster against the jihadists then they did against us 11 years ago.

The America in full collapse plan is moving along smartly.

Now, having seen how our political leadership “liberates” other countries, what nation in its right mind would rely upon our leadership in their hour of need? You can have the most advanced military in the world, but if the leadership that commands it is worse than worthless, then the quality of that military is pretty much irrelevant.

I wonder if Obama has read about this in the newspapers yet.

Only if they have newspapers at the golf course.

You are right. It was a nice utopian central planning idea. It sounded good. If we could transplant Jeffersonian democracy there we would be safe From terrorists who fly planes into buildings and burn up and kill our fellow citizens.

Much like every top-down central planning idea, it sounds good in theory, but it just doesn’t work because of unintended consequences that a human mind cannot fathom.

WIKIPEDIA: At 440,000 square meters, it is the largest and most expensive embassy in the world and is nearly as large as Vatican City.[1] It employs 15,000 people and cost $750 million to build. The Embassy opened in January 2009 following a series of construction delays. It replaced the previous embassy, which opened July 1, 2004 in Baghdad’s Green Zone in a former Palace of Saddam Hussein.[2]

Wouldn’t you just love to send politicians to these places to provide security? I can think of several GREAT candidates! One a previous SOS or more appropriate POS!!!

Let’s hear the current SOS state that there is no danger to US interests in Iraq any longer.

We’re 5 years into the current regime and I’ve simply run out of names to call these pukes!
