Length of service is not necessarily an issue with me personally.
Jesse Helms could have stayed in there forever, and would’ve had no problem with that!!!!!!!!!!!
Helms was an exceptional rarity, someone who never forgot why he was sent to Washington. Almost everyone else does, especially after about 6 years.
I’m with you on that. Term limits come from the voters.
Jesse knew he could survive a sixth term; so he wisely did not risk going out defeated in 2002. But EDole as the replacement was a huge mistake. By the time she got to the Senate, ol’ Bob had already left it six years earlier!
