The end goal is complete control of what is taught.

The rating system may force colleges to dump worthless degrees (Wymin Studies, Transgender Issues, etc.), since none of the graduates can find employment.

But what about the minorities. Affirmative Action heroes usually graduate at the bottom of the class - if they graduate. Won’t they have a negative impact on the ratings?

>> Obama wants to tie those ratings to federal aid.<<

The one who pays gets to set the rules. That’s why the GOP has to learn to cut the federal budget to zero in as many areas as possible. They start a federal program with good intentions, but eventually the Democrats gain power, expand the program dramatically, and then use the federal dollars as a hammer to get what they want.

On the English part of CC, my understanding is that it switches the emphasis between fiction and non-fiction. Before CC, it was 80% fiction. CC is 80% non-fiction. This goes hand-in-hand with workforce prep rather than reading the classics, for example.

Looks like they want this for college/univ. as well... So, what books will there be in “English Lit 101”?

This couldn’t happen to a more deserving industry.

With the federal government pumping something like $175 billion into higher ed every year the public has an interest in directing the money responsibly. It was inevitable.

I agree, schools should be educating students for citizenship, not training them for work. Teach the students to read, write, and cipher, and they're ready to be given job-specific training by their employer.
